A few days ago C1 appears ha debuted together with the long-awaited Mi MIX Fold. But when will it really hit the market? The question that all the most hardcore fans of the brand have been asking for a few weeks now. In fact, there is a lot of curiosity: it is a image signal processor (ISP) that promises terrific imaging performance. But be careful: it is not a processor like a Snapdragon, but of another type of SoC. Take a PC for example: we have the motherboard and the video card. In a way it is the same.
Xiaomi reveals when the Surge C1, the first proprietary image signal processor (ISP), will officially arrive. Do we have hype?
Zeng Xuezhong, Vice President of Xiaomi's smartphone department, has today held a lecture within which he revealed in detail all the information relating to the C1 appears. Let's summarize briefly. In essence, this self-developed component is entrusted with all those tasks that the camera does. Therefore focus, control of contrasts and colors, shutter speed and so on. According to the data provided by the company itself, Xiaomi has managed to get to 100% higher efficiency than the standard.
As we knew, the Surge C1 is equipped with a “double filter” configuration that allows it to process low and high frequency signals at the same time. With the self-developed algorithm, the performance 3A (AF, AWB, AE) most basic and most important have been significantly improved. In detail, here are the meanings of these acronyms:
- AF: better autofocus, therefore the ability to focus, even in low light conditions, on small objects and flat areas;
- AWB: more accurate white balance even in situations where the light is more "complex" such as in the case of ambient light mixed with artificial light
- AE: the parameter refers to a more accurate automatic exposure strategy
But when will it come out?
Zeng Xuezhong was very clear about it: by the end of the year the Xiaomi's Surge C1 will officially debut on the first smartphone. This means that by the end of 2021 we should expect a camera-centric device. In reality, however, we know that this particular image processor is mounted on the My MIX Fold. This could mean that the global variant of the first leaflet will be presented by us at end of the year.
