We in Italy too have begun to understand what the vivo company is made of, which offers decidedly innovative and above all reliable smartphones from a performance point of view. Just think of the model X51 5G that we have also reviewed here on the blog, but also to other more basic models, such as the in vivo Y70 e Y20s. The tech people are with the hype to the stars for the X60 series but the Asian brand today amazes for the launch of the new vivo Y31s, whose particular signs are characterized by the fact of being a device belonging to the entry level range of the market but to have 5G connectivity, thanks to the use of the brand new Qualcomm Snapdragon 480 processor.
The world's first smartphone with Snapdragon 480 5G is the vivo Y31s
The company has not given any jolts from a design point of view and for vivo Y31s the lines that we have already appreciated with other models of the brand are taken up, although here we find two beautiful bright colors, in addition to classic black. On the back we find the square-shaped bumper camera, a bit of the trend for this 2021, but despite the economic nature of the terminal, on the front the device gives us a 6,58-inch Full HD + LCD display with 90 Hz refresh rate, while a step back in terms of modernity is represented by the abandonment of the punch hole for the selfie camera in favor of a more traditional drop notch that integrates an 8 MP lens. The dimensions of the terminal are equal to 164,15 x 75,35 x 8,4 mm for a weight of approximately 185,5 g.
As anticipated, the smartphone is driven by the new Snapdragon 480 SoC, octacore solution with 8 nm production process and Kryo 460 structure (2 x 2,0 GHz + 6 x 1,8 GHz) flanked by the Adreno 619 GPU. 'hardware linked to performance the presence of 6 GB LPDDR4X RAM memories and 128 GB of UFS 2.1 storage, while for the vivo Y31s battery it relies on a 5000 mAh unit with 18 W charging.
The rear photographic compartment houses only two sensors, the main 13 MP and the secondary 2 MP dedicated to depth of field. Strangely, therefore, the ever-increasing number of photographic sensors, suitable only for pure marketing, is abandoned and we like this. Finally we find the fingerprint sensor integrated in the power button while at the connectivity level in addition to 5G we find a dual band WiFi, Bluetooth 5.1, 3,5 mm jack, Type-C, all powered by the customized Android 10 operating system from the proprietary FunTouch 10.5 interface.
Ok let's come to the most interesting part of vivo Y31s, that is the price, which starting from January 15 in China will be equal to 1698 yuan, equal to about 215 euros at current exchange rates. If the price were also confirmed for the western market, we can already decree this terminal a real best buy.
