The 19 September Xiaomi officially announced two new variants of the top of the Xiaomi Mi 8 range, we talk about the Mi 8 Youth and Mi 8 Screen Fingerprint Edition. The latter is actually the only one that retains its flagship features even if it renounces the presence of the 3D sensor for face recognition.
The strength of the Mi 8 Screen Fingerprint Edition, however, is the presence of the fingerprint reader under the display, which follows the trend started by Vivo with their Apex concept phone at MWC 2018. The UD sensor is not in and of itself a novelty for Xiaomi who had already started this experiment with the Mi 8 Explorer Edition a few months ago, but with the Mi 8 Screen Fingerprint Edition there was a reduction in the unlock speed of 29% and an increase in the recognition rate of 8.8 %.

Today's news, coming directly from the president of Xiaomi Lin Bin, instead makes us understand that on the Mi 8 Pro there are other improvements that no one knows yet. The Xiaomi Mi 8 Screen Fingerprint Edition has in fact a new advanced cooling system that uses a special material for heat exchange (which can change state from liquid to solid). This type of technology is currently used in space engineering and the construction of space suits.
Xiaomi claims that with this cooling system it is possible to decrease the terminal temperature by about 3 degrees, which does not seem many, but for a smartphone to run video games or recharge at lower temperatures is definitely a panacea, especially for the battery.
For those who missed the news of the launch, the Xiaomi Mi 8 Screen Fingerprint Edition is equipped with a 6.21-inch AMOLED display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, two 12MP rear cameras with the second accompanied by a telephoto lens, a camera 20MP front and a 3000mAh battery.
