DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION
Available in a dark matte gray finish, Tribit StormBox Flow has dimensions equal to 201 x 90.4 x 52.4 mm and a weight of 660 grams and is equipped with touch buttons in the upper part, while under the sound outlet grille it offers a 62mm driver with power of 25W with audio expression in frequencies between 50 Hz and 20 KHz.
The speaker can be positioned with the grill facing upwards or placed on the side in order to direct the audio flow towards us, thanks to the rubber feet present both on the bottom and on the back. In fact, a feature of this product is the dual-use design which allows, if placed on a surface, to obtain a wider dispersion of sound, ideal for listening in company, or if placed on the base to obtain a more intimate listening experience.
Unlike other models suitable for outdoor use, the Tribit StormBox Flow does not have a cover for the Type-C charging input, but we still have an IP67 certification for use in the pool or on the beach but you can also immerse it in a maximum depth of one meter for a maximum of 30 minutes, expose it to heavy rain or rinse it under a tap without problems. CONNECTIVITY
As for connectivity, the StormBox Flow is compatible with Bluetooth 5.3 and supports AAC and SBC codecs, but not AptX. The Bluetooth module allows you to enjoy music in the open air with a range of up to 40 metres, and it is also possible to pair an additional StormBox Flow speaker to obtain the stereo effect and take advantage of the Party mode.
To manage music and calls we have touch buttons available, including the on/off button, the one for pairing Bluetooth with a device, those for volume control, the multifunction button with which to also call up the voice assistant of the associated device, play/pause, skip the track being listened to and then we have the EQ button which will allow us to switch between 3 audio modes, namely the standard one, the XBASS one (a Tribit proprietary technology that increases the bass by 10 dB) and the dedicated to listening to audio books or podcasts as it places an emphasis on voices. Finally, the TWS button which allows you to create a stereo pair with a second StormBox Flow. In the companion app, there are more audio presets available or you can create a custom sound EQ curve, but you can't switch between them via the EQ button.
AUTONOMY
In terms of autonomy, the Tribit StormBox Flow uses a 4800 mAh battery capable of lasting approximately 30 hours with playback volume at 65% or 24 hours if we use the XBass mode. Real-world results will vary based on typical listening volume, but I can assure you that during my tests the battery never seemed to run out and in any case the results were more than positive when compared to other speakers. Charging takes place in around 4 hours using a Type-C cable, however the package comes with one with a double Type-C socket, which is useful for using the speaker as a power bank. In fact, among the functions available, the Tribit solution can also be used to power a smartphone (but only if the speaker's battery exceeds 50%). Pass-through charging automatically stops when the speaker's battery level drops below 50%, but you can resume charging another device by simply turning off the speaker.
HOW DOES IT SOUND?
Finally, as already mentioned before, with the Tribit speaker we can also manage incoming calls on the smartphone, thanks to an integrated microphone which allows us to answer in hands-free mode, or give voice commands. Are you wondering how it sounds and what the audio is like on calls? I'll answer you straight away, without going into too many technicalities (also because I'm not an audiophile expert): listening is pleasant with every musical genre, even if there's no need to abuse the XBASS technology and related audio profile too much, which in certain genres are not Not at all suitable as the bass is greatly enhanced and clashes, for example, with genres such as jazz or lounge. At maximum volume there are no particular sound distortions and the 25W power transforms the speaker into a small "stage" for your favorite singers to perform.
TAX APP
The presence of the companion app, available for both Android and iOS, helps a lot in managing the right equalization curve for the musical genre being listened to and the AudioBook mode is decidedly accurate when listening to audio books or podcasts. Speaking of the application, with this we can also update the firmware and set an auto-off timer, for example if we use the Tribit StormBox Flow to listen to white noise to help us fall asleep.
