A Xiaomi Mi 5 Enhanced? Yes but not officially

The current top of the range from Xiaomi, the Mi 5, marked the beginning of a new generation of smartphones for the company, in particular thanks to the presence of multiple variants characterized by different specifications. Specifically, this smartphone has been proposed in three variants characterized by different amounts of RAM and ROM memory, as well as limited clock frequencies (in the case of the standard version) of the CPU. However, if you like its design but are not satisfied with its performance, we inform you that you can now buy an improved one from a third-party retailer (therefore not officially) at the same price as the launch one.

Basically, this retailer provides a full-fledged Xiaomi Mi 5 but with the simple difference that the CPU, GPU and RAM frequencies have been overclocked. This change is particularly noticeable in the standard variant, where the Snapdragon 820 has been brought to its original frequencies, ie 2,15 GHz, instead of the current ones of 1,8 GHz. Instead, as regards GPU and RAM, all three the variants have been brought respectively to a frequency of 624 MHz instead of 510 MHz (GPU) and of 1866 MHz instead of 1333 MHz (RAM). Of course, these changes can be appreciated more through benchmark tests. However, we must also consider the downside of all this, as making such a change means overloading the internal components of the smartphone with a consequent negative impact both on the latter and on the temperatures and battery life.

If you prefer to opt for the best performance and do not worry about the consequences of this operation, you can consult the online retailer's website, although stocks are already out of stock, so you may have to wait for other Mi 5 Extreme units to be available again.
