Google has launched today its VPN protection service for Windows and macOS operating systems, allowing desktop users to use a new tool. This option is available for subscribe to the Google One plan from Premium packages, a category that includes 2 TB or more of storage space. With the novelty, customers from 22 countries compatible with the company's plans can use the platform Virtual Private Network (VPN) for mask the IP address while browsing the Internet. This increases security and prevents cybercriminals from accessing sensitive computer data, especially on public connections.
According to the company, Google's VPN in a desktop version shares the same restrictions as the Android and iOS version. Among these, the inability to manually choose the region of the generated IP and to use the service to consume audiovisual content not available in the customer's country of origin.
