One of the advantages of owning a OnePlus smartphone is undoubtedly the software support even for dated devices as in the case of OnePlus 6 and 6T, smartphones that can count on the latest OxygenOS 11 release based on the Android 11 operating system.
Yet this advantage, precisely for the two devices just mentioned, is causing a huge problem, linked to the WhatsApp application which seems to have become incompatible with the customization created by OnePlus. There are many messages from users who have flocked to the forums and social networks related to the Chinese brand, reporting their negative experience related to their OP 6 and 6T and the WhatsApp and OxygenOS 11 combo.

Unfortunately we do not yet know when the Chinese brand will solve the problem, but we certainly recommend to those who have not yet done so, not to update their device to the latest software release and wait for developments.
It should be noted that although this error does not affect the reception and sending of WhatsApp messages, the following actions are prevented:
- Download photos, videos and voice messages (files cannot be downloaded to the internal memory of these smartphones);
- It is not possible to make backups;
- Backups cannot be restored;
- Downloaded photos and videos (old files) are not displayed in the internal memory;

That said, if this solution does not work, the only thing to do is to wait for a release of a patch by OnePlus, which should happen as soon as possible considering the good reputation of the brand in this area.
