A few weeks ago, the research institute Canalys and IDC (International Data Corporation), two organizations that deal with market research, published data regarding the quantity of smartphones shipped (and therefore theoretically sold) in the first quarter of the 2019 ( Q1 2019), ie the period between January and March.
Following the publication of this market research, several smartphone manufacturers have felt the need to clarify some information, one of them is obviously our Xiaomi.
Xiaomi: Over 27,5 million units shipped of the Q1 2019
So what would these inaccurate figures be reported by the two organizations? Well, let's talk about perhaps the most important figure or the total amount of smartphones shipped. According to IDC, "only" 25 million units were shipped, while Xiaomi now makes it known that in reality they are over 27,5 million. While it may not seem like a big difference to us, it's obviously not the case for investors.
Furthermore, with 25 million units, Xiaomi showed a drop in shipments of 10,2% compared to the previous year in which 27,8 million had been shipped. The new figure is always lower but closer to the figure of the past year.
In any case, there is no need to be alarmed as the whole world of mobile technology is seeing a drop in sales due to market saturation, except for some exceptions such as Huawei and Vivo which instead grow. If we look at the graphics above, even giants like Apple with less 30,2% and Samsung with less 8,2% don't seem to do very well.
Finally, with regard to shipments within China, we have Huawei at the top with 29,9 million units, Oppo with 16,8 million, Vivo with 15 million and Xiaomi with 10,5 million. Even here the only one to grow is Huawei which with its latest flagships seems to have made bingo.
