A few days ago, the CEO of Xiaomi (Lei Jun), had revealed to the public the willingness of the company to start focusing more on offline sales, so as to significantly increase the physical presence of the Xiaomi brand and, at the same time, also increase the number of potential new users entering the vast world of the company's products | Xiaomi will improve offline sales |. However, even though the retail sector is experiencing some sort of slowdown in the Asian market, Xiaomi has not been intimidated enough to start planning the opening of a second physical store in Hong Kong, called Mi Home.
To say this, it was the vice president of the global division of Xiaomi (Hugo Barra) during a presentation event of a new product held last week. He stated that this is a "great opportunity" to create a second physical store in Hong Kong and complement the existing one (located in Mong Kok). Additionally, Hugo Barra also reiterated this while speaking to the South China Morning Post, stating:
Obviously we have to choose very carefully the place where to place it. Retail is all about the place and the details. Just think of the place of the current one (Mong Kok) which was a huge success, so much so that we think of reproducing the same model for the new one.
The VP of Xiaomi's global division strongly underscored the will of the company to focus on this location, as Hong Kong is a very important place where it has launched its first Internet of Things (IoT) outside of Continental China. Finally, he concludes that the date and the details relating to the new Mi Home will be announced later on.
Over the years, the Xiaomi brand has been strengthened more and more thanks to the sale of smartphones but we must also not forget all the other devices it produces, as well as its large completely customized interface, the MIUI. However, it is not certain that intensifying Xiaomi's presence in Hong Kong by focusing on offline sales will be able to really take off the company's revenue, so we will see if it succeeds.
