The amount of patents that Xiaomi presents every year is unquantifiable. From day to day we see how the brand comes out with all new and sometimes even weird products. A new VR viewer for Xiaomi: this patent shows it in all its strangeness
The patent has been filed in December 2019 and it was only made public earlier this week. What is the difference between these augmented reality glasses and any other VR display? As you can see in the photo the glasses are connected to a sort of collar by means of a cable. Above it are a whole host of buttons which they probably serve for turn on the device, increase the volume etc.
It is the first time we have seen a glasses for augmented reality of this kind, but the advantage that derives is clear. Compared to the "common" VR headsets in circulation, the eyewear itself is definitely light and poco cumbersome. Its all weight in fact, instead of being loaded on the head and distributed through laces and belts to be put on the head, you go to throw entirely on the neck. Thanks to this peculiarity it will not suffer fatigue during prolonged sessions. In addition, the lightness of the glasses will allow more agile movements in case of game sessions.
There is no way of knowing if Xiaomi will actually launch the product since it has a habit (like everyone else) to present patents and then not to realize the content. On the other hand, the purpose of the patent is also that of not "Get stolen" ideas and not just that of bringing a product to the market. Indeed, the “market” factor is fundamental for this product: unfortunately it has not seen a good response from users over time. You want for the cost, you want because the average user is not ready yet, maybe only people with one large amount of money to spend, buy this kind of product.
