During the Google I / O 2016 held mid-May, a new Xiaomi brand product was introduced to connect to any TV to provide smart functionality. This product is nothing but the new Mi Box 4K that, if it has a lot of aesthetics in common with the third generation of Mi Box, the one that varies is hardware. In fact, within it we find:
- Dimensions of 101 x 101 x 19,5 millimeters;
- Weight of 176,5 grams;
- Quad core Cortex A53 quad core with 2 Ghz frequency and GPU Mali 450 at 3 + 2 core;
- 2 GB of RAM (DDR3);
- 8 GB internal storage (has a USB input);
- 802.11 a / b / g / n / ac Wi-Fi connectivity (dual-band) and Bluetooth 4.0;
- Video signal decoding capability with H.265, VP9 codec in 4K resolution at 60 Hz and with HDR;
- Supports DTS and Dolby Digital Plus audio;
- 2.0a HDMI connector;
- Android TV operating system.
Essentially, it differs for a larger amount of RAM, a dual internal storage, a different CPU (and GPU) and, above all, support for Android TV instead of Android stocks.
However, during the presentation, Xiaomi did not want to reveal neither the selling price nor the availability on the American market, as the latter will be the first device of the company to make its appearance in the USA. However, thanks to a Xiaomi insider we learned that the Mi Box 4K will be available in the first months of the fourth quarter of this year and, more specifically, in the month of October. Furthermore, most likely, the Mi Game Controller will not be included in the sales package which will therefore have to be purchased separately, but currently we cannot confirm this.
Article Xiaomi will enter the US market with the Mi 4K Box seems to be the first of Xiaomi Fans Italia.
