The next Xiaomi mid-range will use a flagship display

This morning, the well-known Chinese leakster Digital Chat Station broke the news that Xiaomi's next mid-range smartphone will use a high refresh rate LTPO flexible screen manufactured by Huaxing Optoelectronics. The screen refresh rate can go down to a minimum of 1 Hz and will support DC dimming technology and high-frequency PWM attenuation.

The next Xiaomi mid-range will use a flagship display

At the moment, LTPO screens are used on high-end devices, such as the Xiaomi 12 Pro, which allows the smartphone to achieve a dynamic intelligent adjustment of the panel's refresh rate.

In particular, always taking the Xiaomi 12 Pro as an example, this technology allows the display refresh rate to change dynamically based on the usage scenarios. So if a 60-frame video is played back a refresh rate of 60 Hz is automatically set, while if we have static text or an image, these are displayed at the refresh rate of 10 Hz, with the refresh rate that can be adjusted in dynamically and instantly based on our every operation and every content within an app. This also means that while ensuring high fluidity, the smartphone is much more energy efficient.

In any case, returning to the leak, Xiaomi's new mid-range smartphone will therefore arrive with a display similar to the one we find aboard Xiaomi's most premium smartphone currently on the market, the 12 Pro.

Chinese users speculate that this mid-range device is a new product of the Civi series, which therefore could arrive under the name of Xiaomi Civi 2.

The new smartphone should debut in the second half of this year, but it is not clear if it will be presented in a global version.
