Xiaomi Mi 11 vs Xiaomi Mi 10: all the differences, is the upgrade worthwhile?

Doubtless Xiaomi Mi 11 is arousing a lot of interest in the panorama of top-of-the-range smartphones. It is in fact a super-performing device that, according to Chinese users, has very few defects. While we wait for the device to arrive in Europe too, it is good to ask ourselves about the convenience ofupgrade from Xiaomi Mi 10. Even the top of the old generation range continues to be an excellent device but perhaps the this time it was much bigger than normal. With this comparison we try to understand if switching from one to the other is really worth it.

A comparison between Xiaomi Mi 11 and Xiaomi Mi 10: is the transition from the second to the first a step to take? We lean towards yes, that's why

The comparison we are going to make will concern the highlights of each device and therefore: design, cameras, processor and hardware components such as RAM and internal memory, battery e recharge. We will not dwell on the price since the European (and Italian) one is still unknown. However, we will make some assumptions considering the price history of the other top of the previous range.

Design

xiaomi mi 11 vs xiaomi mi 10 comparison

  • Xiaomi Mi 11: 164.3 x 74.6 x 8.1 mm for 196 g (glass version) or 194 (leather version), 6.81 ″ AMOLED display with QHD resolution (1440 x 3200 pixels), refresh rate up to 120Hz
  • Xiaomi Mi 10: 162.6 x 74.8 x 9 mm for 208 g, 6.67 ″ AMOLED display with Full HD + resolution (1080 x 2340 pixels), refresh rate up to 90Hz

There is a lot to be said regarding the design, measurements, weight and characteristics of the screen. We do not focus on the shape of the photographic sector that you may like or not, but on the facts. The Mi 11 is characterized by lower size and weight than the predecessor ma higher panel size, resolution, display refresh rate and sample rate. The numbers speak for themselves: the display quality of the latest arrival is clearly greater compared to the Mi 10. not to mention the resistance: the new top of the range has a coating Corning Gorilla Glass Vitus (of the latest generation) while the Mi 10 stops at Corning Gorilla Glass 5.

Cameras

comparison cameras xiaomi mi 11 and xiaomi mi 10

  • Xiaomi Mi 11: triple rear camera
    • main from 108 megapixel with opening f / 1.9 and pixel size 0.8 µm
    • ultra wide from 13 megapixel with with opening f / 2.4 and angle up to 123 °
    • macro from 5 megapixel with opening f / 2.4
    • front camera from 20 megapixel with f / 2.2 opening
  • Xiaomi Mi 10: quad rear camera
    • main from 108 megapixel with opening f / 1.69 and pixel size 1.6 µm
    • ultra wide from 13 megapixel with with opening f / 2.4 and angle up to 123 °
    • macro from 2 megapixels with opening f / 2.4 and pixel size 1.12 µm
    • portrait by 2 megapixel with opening f / 2.4 and pixel size 1.4 µm
    • front camera from 20 megapixel with f / 2.2 opening

Beyond the number of sensors that are greater in the Mi 10 (has an extra sensor for portraits) the quality in terms of resolution for the macro camera is higher for the Mi 11. However it must be recognized that the brand has had the courage to opt for a square photo module and no longer at traffic lights: many like it because it is different, others don't. Personally I find it cute because it varies from before. The numbers are not important: the quality of a photo is not made by megapixels but theoptimization. For this (at least at the moment) the Mi 11 is much more complete than its predecessor as it is equipped with the MIUI 12.5 which gives a completely different level of voting / video processing.

Processor and general hardware equipment

Qualcomm Snapdragon 888

  • Xiaomi Mi 11: Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 octa-core 64 bit (1 x 2.84GHZ Cortex X1 Super Core + 3 x 2.4GHz Cortex A78 + 4 x 1.8GHZ Cortex A55)
  • Xiaomi Mi 10: Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 octa-core 64-bit (1 x Kryo 585 2.84GHz + 3 x Kryo 585 2.42GHz + 4 x Kryo 585 1.8GHz)

In terms of performance, the Snapdragon 888 processor offers a lot more speed and stability. We refer you to this article for more details. Consequently there is poco to say: the Mi 11 is better on all points of view. A step forward also for the Adreno 650 GPU graphics accelerator of the Mi 10 that it passes to Adreno 660 on the Mi 11. Also as regards the internal memory, the reading speed of the latest flagship is higher as it is equipped with a UFS 3.1 instead of 3.0.

Battery and recharge

battery comparison

  • Xiaomi Mi 11: 4600 mAh rechargeable at a power of 55w (wired) e 50w wireless, here I'm 10W wireless reverse charging
  • Xiaomi Mi 10: 4780 mAh rechargeable at a power of 30w (wired and wireless), also present 10W wireless reverse charging

More charging power translates into more speed. The My 11 in this sense it is a splinter and manages to charge the device in half an hour e poco more, much cheaper than the Mi 10. This applies to both the wired and wireless charging: in both cases, a higher power is supported for the last member of the house. However this resulted in the amount of mAh to drop a little. Nothing alarming, however, we are talking about almost 5000 mAh.

Conclusions: buy Xiaomi Mi 11 or keep Xiaomi Mi 10?

If we consider that the price will be similar to that of the Mi 10 when he came out of us, therefore around the 600 / 700 € (figures evaluated based on the current yuan / € conversion), there is poco to say: Xiaomi Mi 11 is the smartphone to buy in 2021. However, if we have a Mi 10, my personal advice is to wait at least for the next generation of Xiaomi flagships. This is still an excellent device and will travel great throughout 2021 as well.

I would never go from one top of one year to the next, the differences in relation to the price difference are too few: always wait for two generations of tops to feel tangible improvements
