Xiaomi Mi Band 9: new certification obtained, imminent launch?
On April 9, the Mi Band 9 appeared in the databases of the certification agencies of the United Arab Emirates (TDRA) and the Indonesian Telecommunications Agency. The certified model, M2345B1, did not reveal many technical specifications, but just passing this stage represents a strong signal of the upcoming launch.
On the 5th of the same month, the Mi Band 9 was also registered in Singapore's IMDA database, further confirming the device's imminent arrival. Additionally, two products with model numbers “M2345B1” and “M2346B1” have obtained home radio certification, suggesting that they may correspond to the Mi Band 9 and its NFC version, respectively.
Despite the absence of detailed configuration information from the certification documents, we can make some guesses based on the predecessor, the Mi Band 8. Launched on April 18, 2023, the Mi Band 8 boasted a 1.62-inch screen with 60Hz support, 326PPI and a brightness of 600nit. The initial selling price in China was 239 yuan for the standard version and 279 yuan for the NFC version.
The Mi Band 8 introduced the Xiaomi Control Center for the first time, allowing control of a variety of Xiaomi smart devices and management of the phone's audio stream via the bracelet. With a charging time of about an hour, the Mi Band 8 promised a typical battery life of 16 days, reducing to 6 days in Always-On Display (AOD) mode.
What can we expect from the Mi Band 9? It is likely that Xiaomi will continue to improve the features already appreciated in the previous version, such as battery life, display quality and connectivity features. Furthermore, it wouldn't be surprising to see improvements in the user interface and integration with the Xiaomi ecosystem.
In any case, the Mi Band 9 seems to be one step away from launch after the certifications obtained, now we just have to see if Xiaomi will be able to maintain its lead in the wearable market with this new device.
