UPDATE AT THE END OF THE ARTICLE
Huami has always been a leader in the fitness and digital wellness thanks to its smartbands and its smart watches. In addition to these products, the Chinese company promoted us a very useful support system for doctors that allowed them to "foresee" and act on coronavirus symptoms. We talked a lot about it in this article. From new data that have arrived, however, a similar system could also be integrated by Mi Bands in the future. According to the team of AndroidTR in fact, in the Huami proprietary smartband but produced for Xiaomi, body temperature can be measured.
The Xiaomi Mi Band in the future can also act as a thermometer to measure body temperature: a valid support for monitoring our health
This new feature will not be usable only by the new ones We Band, but also from more old. In fact, based on what is reported by the site you find at the bottom of the article, the feature will be introduced starting from the second generation of Xiaomi smartbands up to the fifth. Obviously, the next versions will also be able to count on the same functionality. The data made available comes directly from official applications such as Amazfit (now Zepp) and Mi Fit.
The works are currently being tested and are shown for the moment data compared with external devices such as mercury thermometers or devices for measuring temperature via the oral and frontal route. The data is compared in order to detect errors in measurements, calibrate the system and quantify the margin of error. The surprising thing, however, is that the devices (from Mi Band 2 to 5, inclusive Amazfit Band 5) will be able to use the feature without actually having an implant hardware dedicated.

How will the Mi Bands measure the temperature?
According to the source, the devices will be able to measure body temperature using the heart rate sensor. Through the pulsations, in some way, the device should be able to detect whether or not we have a fever and therefore to warn us if we are at risk of coronavirus or less. It is not clear at the moment how, if and when this new feature will arrive but if what is reported to be true we expect a OTA update via Mi Fit.
SECURITY UPDATE TRAINING
The source shared other information about the feature. The information comes from the code in Chinese and was translated into Spanish.
The new function will tell us within what range the smart bracelet will measure the temperature. Also, we will know it history of all measurements, complete with maximum, minimum and average temperatures. At the bottom left there will be a small mirror that will make clear some fundamental data.
