At the last MWC 2016 in Barcelona, the Chinese giant Xiaomi introduced, in addition to Mi5, the new Xiaomi Mi Box with Android TV operating system. About a dozen days ago it was certified by the FCC. Since then we have not heard anything more about this device which, we recall, was specifically designed for the US market.
In the past few hours, however, some photos emerged regarding the sales package of the Xiaomi Mi Box. However, they raise doubts about the selling price. As you can see, 76 dollars is printed on the lower right corner. It could refer to:
- The sale price of the multimedia box;
- At the coupons that Xiaomi puts inside
Even if the 76 Dollars (we do not know exactly why this number) were a coupon for some kind of credit (maybe on the Play Store), we expect the box cost not to exceed $ 100.
However, not knowing with certainty the selling price yet, we cannot make comparisons with the competition represented above all by Nvidia Shield Android TV. From the performance point of view, it is definitely superior but Xiaomi will most likely focus on the price (the Nvidia proposal has a cost of $ 199 for the 16 GB version and $ 299 for the version with 500 GB HDD).
Before leaving, we want to briefly remember the technical features of the Xiaomi Mi Box with Android TV:
