After weeks of leaks and official teasers, the new Xiaomi Mi MIX 4 has just been presented in China. As most of you will already know, the MIX series was born with the aim of bringing a futuristic design that improves the overall appearance of the device. The Mi MIX (1) can also be considered the smartphone that started the fashion of "full screen" design.
Xiaomi Mi MIX 4 official: truly “full screen” design thanks to the camera under the display
Returning to today, Xiaomi has decided to go back to its origins with a simple and avant-garde design at the same time. Say goodbye to the slider of the Mi MIX 3 and the curved screen that continues on the back like on the Mi MIX Alpha. The Xiaomi Mi MIX 4 is in fact a smartphone with a truly full screen design without any compromise, no holes, notches or pop-up mechanisms for the front camera. The latter is in fact hidden behind the display and appears only when called from the app.
But let's start with the main specifications of the Mi MIX 4 which obviously adopts the best hardware on the market such as the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 Plus chipset, an overclocked version of the Snapdragon 888. The CPU is then accompanied by up to 12GB of RAM and up to 512GB of internal memory.
The Mi MIX 4 integrates a 6,67-inch OLED panel with a resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels, a PPI of 400 and a refresh rate of 120Hz. Then we have the CUP technology that allows you to hide the camera under the screen. The CUP technology was created from scratch and it took 3 years, more than 100 display technicians, and 500 million R&D investment to overcome countless technical problems and obtain dozens of patents. Below is a video explaining the new technology (in Chinese).
From the beautiful front panel we move on to the equally stunning back with integrated precision ceramic, warm and shiny like jade. A lightweight ceramic technology for 30% weight reduction.
On the back we also find the photographic sector with a 108MP main camera thanks to the Samsung HMX sensor, a 1 / 1,33-inch CMOS, supports the synthesis of large 1,6 um pixels and the OIS Anti-shake optics for quality images. The ultra wide angle is a 12 megapixel sensor, which equates to a focal length of 12mm and an ultra wide field of view. For the first time, it also uses free-form lenses, which can solve the problem of ultra-wide distortion without the need for an algorithm. You can also use the main and ultra-wide cameras at the same time to create an ultra-wide image with high quality.
In terms of telephoto, the Mi MIX 4 is equipped with an 8-megapixel periscope lens, supports 5x optical zoom, supports OIS optical image stabilization, and is equivalent to a focal length of 120mm. For selfies, on the other hand, we have a 20MP front sensor.
The Xiaomi Mi MIX 4 also supports UWB connection technology that brings centimeter-level precise spatial positioning, making the connection between smartphones and AIoT smart devices more secure and accurate. It then becomes easy to select a partner device with your fingers to achieve perfect remote control.
Finally, the smartphone arrives with a 4500mAh battery, while in terms of charging the device will support 120W wired fast charging and 50W wireless fast charging, therefore among the fastest in the industry.
As for prices, the Xiaomi Mi MIX 4 has a starting price of 4999 yuan (660 euros) for the version with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal memory, 5299 yuan (700 euros) for the 8GB and 256GB version, up to reach 6299 yuan (830 euros) for the one with 12GB of RAM and 512Gb of internal storage.
