Someone might find of poco I am interested in the announcement of the release of the source codes of the now old Xiaomi MiPad (1) but this news strikes me firsthand because in recent years I have never lost hope of seeing the future of the first Xiaomi tablet in the hands of other developers.
When Xiaomi decided to enter the tablet market over 2 years ago, many fans welcomed this news with great enthusiasm. We were all very curious to see MIUI make even tablets "shine" with its versatility and fluidity, replicating what it was already doing with smartphones.
Unfortunately this hope was ignored. The MiPad was beautiful, powerful and cheap like all Xiaomi products, but the MIUI made for the tablet was just a bad version: poco optimized, laggosa and already then devoid of small and large functions of MIUI (watch, security center, home widget).
Over the years the tablet has always been updated to the current mayor release without making substantial improvements. The Android base is still 4.4 (KitKat) and the list of missing features has been lengthened further.
The release of the source codes obviously opens up a new scenario in which third party developers will finally be able to seriously try their hand at custom ROMs that can finally bring out the best from this tablet that with 2gb of ram and the still powerful SoC NVIDIA Tegra K1.
In the hope that, despite the past 2 years, there is still interest from the developers, we look forward to finally seeing some good ROMs.
