Xiaomi Mi QiCycle: First Photographic Hand-On

Within a few days from official presentation, the new Xiaomi Mi QiCycle, that is Xiaomi's smart bike, was the protagonist of a first photographic hands-on along the streets. Thanks to it we have the opportunity to observe it more closely and effectively evaluate what its strengths and weaknesses are.

Before submitting to the hands-on, we would like to remind you briefly of its technical features:

  • General Weight 13,5 KG;
  • IPX5 certification;
  • Maximum power output: 250 W to 36 volt
  • Maximum speed of 20 Km / h
  • Total autonomy of 45 Km
  • 20 battery with total capacity of 18650 Wh (full charge in about 3 hours);
  • Shimano Nexus three-speed gearbox
  • Display from 1,8 inches with resolution 160 x 128 pixels;
  • On-board computer with multipurpose physical activity;
  • Bluetooth 4.0 LE connectivity

Starting the photographic tour, we can immediately notice, and in a much more evident way than the render images, that the Xiaomi Mi QiCycle has a decidedly different appearance from the bikes we are used to seeing. Equipped with a large central cylinder, it has been designed to reduce weight to a minimum.

The display has been positioned in a perfect spot to be used even while pedaling. In fact, being practically attached to the left end of the handlebar, it is not only easy to consult but also easy to use.

As for the seat, we have nothing to report on comfort (not having tried it) but we can tell you that the maximum height at which it can be positioned is 20 cm. The pedals do not have any type of coupling, so the Xiaomi Mi QiCycle can be used with any type of shoe.

The front lighting guarantees optimal safety when we are going to pedal at dusk or at night, thanks to the powerful beam that manages to illuminate a large portion of the road in front of us. On the back there is also a second lighting system to signal our position to those who follow us.

Finally we close with perhaps the most interesting part, that is, the electric motor. It is implemented in the front wheel and connected to the batteries by means of well-hidden wires inside the chassis.

Before leaving, we would like to remind you that the cost of this smart bicycle at the exchange rate is around € 400.
