In November 2019 Xiaomi presented a very interesting ebook reader on its Youpin crowdfunding platform. Unfortunately, however, that product has remained a Chinese exclusive to this day.

But the situation could change in the following weeks. According to the site Gizmochina in fact, the ebook reader would have been caught on the database of the Bluetooth certification body, Launch Studio. This means that we could witness a global launch of the device in the near future.
For those who have missed it, remember that the Xiaomi Mi Reader is a very thin ebook reader with a thickness of only 8,3 mm and is also light at about 178 grams in weight. The ebook reader comes with a white front frame with the Mi Reader written at the bottom, on the back we have a dark gray back cover, then there is a power button at the top and a USB Type-C port for charging and data transfer at the bottom.
The Xiaomi Mi Reader adopts a 6-inch high-definition e-ink (electronic ink) screen with a ppi (pixel per inch) ratio of 212. The screen has also received a special anti-reflective treatment that makes it more similar to paper. . There is also the possibility to set the brightness, specifically we have as many as 24 levels of brightness in order to have a greater choice, also the brightness is evenly distributed (up to 94%) for a clearer and more comfortable reading experience under different conditions of light .
The Xiaomi Mi Reader is the first device of this type that uses an AllWinner 300 quad-core processor with an 1,8Ghz clock, coupled with 1GB of RAM (more than enough considered the use) for a boot speed of just one second and a very fluid interface. We then have 16GB of memory to store up to 5 thousand books (calculated on an average of 2MB per book) and a battery of 1800mAh of capacity for several weeks of use with a single charge. The hardware just mentioned runs on an operating system based on Android 8.1
Finally, the Xiaomi ereader supports the transfer of books via WiFi, but you can always use the USB Type-C cable to move all the various files directly from the PC.
