As you know, Xiaomi has been in the gaming industry for quite some time, with a laptop dedicated to gamers, Xiaomi Mi Gaming Laptop, their first gaming phone, the Xiaomi Black Shark and finally the viewer Xiaomi Mi VR Standalone to be able to immerse fully in a completely virtual world.
The latter gadget was launched in June and has been relatively successful, but now comes a version that could affect a lot more people, with the name of Xiaomi Mi VR Standalone Super Player Edition.
The Super Player Edition differs from the two versions previously released due to the presence of a large portfolio of games included in the kit. In fact, there will be well 21, all obviously VR ready with a value of 700 Yuan, or about 88 €.
Xiaomi Mi VR Standalone Super Player Edition Launched from 225 €
The Xiaomi Mi VR Standalone viewer itself was created by Xiaomi's collaboration with the virtual reality giant Oculus. With its own strength, as Xiaomi has always accustomed us, placed in the value for money.
At a decidedly lower price than the competition, Xiaomi is able to bring a 2K resolution-specific Fast-Switch screen made specifically for this device, and a refresh rate up to 72Hz that serves to reduce flickering problems and have a gaming experience smoother with less delays or artifacts.
But a good screen is not enough, it also requires a quality optical system to bring all that goodness on our pupils. This is where Xiaomi has probably learned more from Oculus, the Mi VR Standalone equips the same optical system of the Oculus, reducing reflections and increasing the viewing angles.
To run the 2K pixels of the display you need a lot of power, this is provided by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor (the same as the flagship a couple of years ago) supported by software specifically optimized to consume less power while maintaining the quite high performance. The processor is then cooled by an aluminum alloy system with U-shaped tubes that allow the viewer to operate without heating more than necessary.
The new versions of the Xiaomi Mi VR Standalone Super Player Edition range from 1799 Yuan (225 €) to the 32GB version and 1999 Yuan (250 €) for the 64GB version of internal memory.
