It's Christmas Eve and could we not offer you any more leaked information about the much-anticipated Xiaomi Mi5? Seriously, two new leaked images have emerged on the net, showing once again the looks of the Xiaomi Mi5. This time we have a clear view of the top surface of the device and we can still appreciate the excellent quality of work done by Xiaomi engineers to minimize the size of the side frames on the display.
In addition to the images, we were able to discover a new patent by Xiaomi concerning a new ultrasound fingerprint scanner system. A similar sensor had already been discussed in the past Xiaomi Mi5 Will Support Qualcomm Sense ID 3D Fingerprint? | but in that case it was a Qualcomm proprietary technology. Instead, this new patent suggests that Xiaomi could adopt its own technology with the same effects.
However, the introduction of the ultrasonic fingerprint sensor would stall with the introduction, at the same time, of a central physical key. In theory this is the most accurate position to integrate a fingerprint sensor, but we will see if the Korean giant decides to eliminate that step and go directly to the next generation with ultrasonic technology.
What would you prefer? Is a technology already widely known for ergonomics of users or a "leap into the dark" with the ultrasound?
