In December of last year, Xiaomi launched the Bluetooth gateway version of the Mijia Smart Socket at a price of 79 yuan, or about 10 euros at the current exchange rate.

The product was able to collect the Bluetooth signals from "subordinate" devices such as thermometers and hygrometers, locks and many others. The Mijia Smart Socket with Bluetooth Gateway uploaded all collected data to the Mijia server via Wi-Fi. Users could then use the Mijia app to remotely view data from these Bluetooth devices and configure their smart features.
Well, today Xiaomi launched the second generation of the smart socket with the name of “Mijia Smart Socket 2 Bluetooth Gateway Edition”. But the price this time will be only 49 yuan, about 6 euros, so even cheaper than the previous one which was already a great deal.
The new generation has the same functions as remote switch, voice control, smart link, power statistics, Bluetooth gateway and overload protection. The reason it is cheaper is that the two USB Type-A ports (the ordinary one) on the socket have been removed and there is only one standard socket (for China).
In any case, the outer shell is made of 750 ℃ high temperature flame retardant material, and the interior adopts a wave soldering process, for higher quality and supports a child safety system, so users will not be able to suffer electric shock if they accidentally touch the socket.
Among other features we have the possibility to monitor the internal temperature of the socket in real time. When the temperature rises significantly, the Mijia app will promptly remind us with a notification. Also, when the temperature is too high, the smart plug will automatically shut down.
