Xiaomi will have its own Astrophotography mode, like the Google Pixels

Xiaomi, like all smartphone manufacturers, is doing everything to sell their devices at their best. A common marketing tactic and ploy is to push hard on potentiality of camera. There are those who do it with collaborations like vivo and Zeiss, who instead enhances the algorithms just like the giant Lei Jun does. In this fight, companies are very fond of showing off some camera features that supposedly open up never-before-seen opportunities. One such opportunity is to take photos of the starry sky like never before. Google is succeeding with the mode Astrophotography and Xiaomi will do the same. That's how.

Xiaomi will count on a special mode to take photos of the starry sky, an Astrophotography mode like the Google Pixels in essence

While Google prides itself on the Astrophotography mode on its Google Pixels and Vivo has offered Zeiss Style Portraits on its latest flagships to create high-quality portraits, Xiaomi will take the photos to the starry sky to another level. Such as? A few days ago the company issued a patent entitled "Night sky, star trails" or something similar. The patent documentation describes the algorithm behind the time-lapse photography mode. Basically Xiaomi thinks of one starry sky mode using time-lapse as a basis.

In short, when you activate this option in the camera app, the lens will automatically focus the night sky and will determine the most appropriate settings such as ISO and white balance. Xiaomi points out that using this proprietary Astrophotography mode, the smartphone and camera must remain in the same position for a certain period of time, allowing you to create photos with a certain interval between frames.

The algorithm in question will save all images for further processing e will select the best ones based on pre-established criteria. As anticipated, this feature looks like an analog of Google's Astrophotography mode. Clearly for the moment it is not possible to say when this novelty will arrive on smartphones, but it is clear that it will initially be available only in China and only on top of the range smartphone with elite photographic sensors
