Xiaomi changes course: The Pad 6 will not see Android 15

Xiaomi, the well-known electronic device manufacturer, recently sparked controversy among its users following a change on its official website regarding operating system updates for its popular tablet, the Xiaomi pad 6. Initially, Xiaomi had promised two major OS updates for the device, Android 14 and Android 15. However, a recent review of the site revealed that the Pad 6 will receive only update to Android 14, eliminating any reference to Android 15.

The discovery was made by an attentive user, SavageAryan007, who noticed the discrepancy between the archived version of the Xiaomi Security Center site from October 20, 2023 and the current version from March 16, 2024. While the previous version confirmed the Xiaomi Pad 6's eligibility for Android 14 and Android 15 updates, the current version of the site hcompletely removed any mention of Android 15, without providing any official explanation.

Despite the removal of the Android 15 update, Xiaomi has kept its promise to deliver security updates every 90 days until June 2026. This commitment is in line with the roadmap of HyperOS, Xiaomi's proprietary operating system, which lists the Pad 6 as an eligible device, although a specific timetable for the update's release was not provided.

The Xiaomi Pad 6, launched on April 18, 2023 together with the Pro model, was followed by the larger screen versions, the 6-inch Xiaomi Pad 14 Max and the Xiaomi Pad 6S Pro 12,4 inches, released in August 2023 and February 2024 respectively. The series, which now has four tablets, has been well received by the market for its performance and design.

Xiaomi's decision not to proceed with the update to Android 15 has raised questions about the device's compatibility with the new operating system and the reasons for this choice. The Pad 6 is known for its beefy hardware capabilities, which theoretically should allow it to seamlessly run HyperOS 2.0 powered by Android 15. This has led to speculation that the decision may have been influenced by other factors, such as marketing strategies or technical limitations not disclosed.

At the moment, Xiaomi has not yet released any official statements regarding the situation. Therefore, it is advisable to wait for an official announcement before drawing any definitive conclusions.

However, as Xiaomi does not stop with its promises, don't be afraid of more confidence in this brand
