It all started at the end of June, when a news out of the ordinary, hypothesized the launch of aa new series of Xiaomi smartphones called POCOPHONE. The characteristics were not clear, let alone the vericity of the news, until a few days ago when the mysterious device received the FCC certification, where some information was provided that made one suppose top of the range similar to the Mi 8 and perhaps intended for the Indian market. Until now Xiaomi did not comment on the matterbut one thing I learned in these years is that the rumors always have a fund of truth. And so here appears a short video showing the new one POCOPHONE Beryllium, or better defined POCOPHONE F1, which really resembles the top of the range Mi 8, in size and display with adoption of the notch but the back looks decidedly different.
Indeed the back cover is shown in an unusual blue color, perhaps polycarbonate, but above all it is the position of the dual camera to attract attention that maintains a vertical arrangement but if in the Mi 8 the reference to the iPhone X is quite certain, in the case of the series POCOPHONE the dual camera seems to resume the style of OnePlus 6. Of course, the video could be a resounding fake, as happened previously for other top of the range of the Chinese brand, but if instead we were faced with reality then it would be really curious to understand the strategic movements by Xiaomi.

Also from the video you can read some specifics, like one RAM from 6 GB, 128 GB of internal storage and the presence of a octa-core processor clocked up to 2.8 GHz. So the video confirms the previous hypotheses: POCOPHONE and Beryllium are the same terminal. In short, this terminal is in effect a true top of the range, but for what market will I be thinking? And why did Xiaomi want to diversify this model from Mi 8? In short, only time will give us the right answers.
