With the evolution of production methods, the technology implemented in the displays of electronic devices (especially for smartphones) is radically changing and technologies such as LCD panels seem to be waning in favor of a more advantageous one, namely OLED (and derivatives) . For those who don't know, OLED technology (Organic Light Emitting Diode, i.e. organic light emitting diode) allows you to create color displays with the ability to emit its own light with the consequent reduction of energy consumption and the thickness of the display itself due to the elimination of all the additional components dedicated to this purpose and finally, to create foldable and rollable displays.
Currently, the two largest manufacturers of displays with OLED technology are respectively Samsung and LG which, according to internal sources, both would be looking for potential new applications of this technology. Specifically, Samsung would like to enter the field in which its AMOLED technology, namely that of laptops, is not yet present, while LG is opting to bring its OLED displays on small portable devices (smartphones, wearables, etc.). However, towards the end of the year, the G Flex series will not be the only one to have this technology, as it is rumored that there are other manufacturers interested in this type of display to be implemented in smartphones and among these also Xiaomi appears.
This revelation can represent a real turning point for Xiaomi, especially if it manages to effectively implement this type of display on its devices. Furthermore, according to these sources, it seems that Xiaomi is particularly interested in "edge" displays with a probable reference to flexible devices or to the fateful smartphone that has recently been heard so much (Xiaomi Arch).
Even if this news seems to be quite convincing / truthful, for now we can not help but take everything with due precautions and await further clarifications on this topic from the company itself.
