The release of Android 9 Pie has certainly moved the waters in the ROM, which in a sense is always moving but for some terminals instead is a mirage and that's it. In fact there are many smartphones that are stuck to the Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system and that will never see further upgrades at the firmware level. Fortunately, the array of modders behind the release of custom ROMs always has new solutions that give new life to certain devices while others offer the chance to try out some of the new Google operating system. And it is the case of the porting of Andrroid 9 Pie, that before the official rollout, arrives im two terminals of the Xiaomi family: Redmi 5A that receives the port through the Carbon ROM and the Xiaomi Mi 6 that instead receives the update through the porting of the Nitrogen OS.
Xiaomi Redmi 5A: Android 9 porting
Xiaomi Redmi 5A is a very cheap device that owes its popularity mainly to this aspect but also to a good quality and general performance that has repeatedly made it a sales champion. Launched last November, the small Xiaomi smartphone is now able to perform the latest version of the OS of Google thanks to a port, especially thanks to the Carbon ROM. Of course, the porting is not official and therefore it should be noted that there may be bugs that will not be fixed in a short time. But if you want to try Android 9 on your Redmi 5A you can deepen it all by clicking on the lower button that will redirect you directly on the thread of the ROM, but in the meantime I will list what are the things that work and which are not.
What works:
- Boots
- RIL (Calls, SMS, Data)
- Wi-Fi

Xiaomi Mi 6: Android 9 porting
Even the former top-of-the-range Xiaomi Mi 6 receives unofficial Android 9 Pie thanks to porting on a Nitrogen OS base. Unlike the Carbon ROM the porting developers for Mi 6 have not listed anything about what works or does not work, so the situation is to be faced only by true brave and modding explorers, even if it does not exclude the fact that the ROM in reality is stable and free of considerable bugs, since the Bug section is present on the Nitrogen OS thread for Mi 6, but this is empty. However, if you want to deepen the port of Android 9 Pie for Mi 6 you can click on the button below.
