The Xiaomi sub-brand, which became independent last January, Redmi, seems to be increasingly intent on becoming a real competitor to the parent company. In fact, after launching the excellent Redmi Note 7 in January, the brand has released several devices in categories already dominated by Xiaomi. For example, we have headphones Redmi AirDots, very similar to the Mi AirDots, the Redmi washing machine, the laptop RedmiBook 14 and other miscellaneous gadgets.
Today comes the news of a "new" product that Redmi could present in the coming weeks, we are talking about a new Redmi TV that obviously would compete with the many Mi TVs currently on the market.
Redmi TV on the way, will they give Mi TV a hard time?
The rumor actually comes from the words of the Xiaomi TV product manager, Li Xiaoshuang. The manager allegedly said that "Our friends at Redmi seem to be quite ahead and we (of Mi TV) should pay attention". So, even if we have no official confirmation, Li Xiaoshuang has practically made it clear that Redmi's televisions are around the corner and that they could even give the Chinese giant a hard time.
In response, Redmi's general manager and vice president of Xiaomi Group, Lu Weibing, said the Xiaomi TV manager shouldn't worry. This leads us to think that in any case the Redmi TVs would be a cheaper product which therefore would not compete with the technologically advanced TVs.
In fact, the Redmi brand was born precisely to bring to the market devices with a specific ratio / higher price, even saving on some features deemed indispensable by users. That said, the Redmi Note 7 and partly the Redmi K20 Pro are proof that people are willing to accept compromises in order to save.
Will it also be so with Redmi's TVs? We hope to find out in the coming weeks!
