In just 5 minutes, sales rose to six times the total first sale volume of the previous generation. In four hours, the series broke first-day sales and revenue records for all smartphones over the past year on China's four major e-commerce platforms: Tmall, JD.com, Douyin and Kuaishou.

The founder, president and CEO of Xiaomi, Lei Jun, expressed his satisfaction with the success achieved by the Xiaomi 14 series. In a post on Weibo, the popular Chinese social network, he thanked consumers for their support and declared that Xiaomi phones will get better and better.

Lei Jun also revealed that Xiaomi has set a clear goal for the new decade from 2020 to 2030: to invest heavily in core technologies and strive to become the world leader of the next generation of hardcore technologies.

To achieve this, Xiaomi has significantly increased its investments in research and development. At the launch of the Xiaomi 14 series, Lei Jun announced that Xiaomi's R&D investments in the next five years will exceed 100 billion yuan (around 13 billion euros). She also predicted that Xiaomi's annual R&D investment in 2023 will exceed 20 billion yuan (about 2,6 billion euros).

According to this year's second quarter financial report, Xiaomi's total revenue in the second quarter was 67,4 billion yuan (about 8,8 billion euros), and its adjusted net profit was 5,1. 670 billion yuan (about 4,6 million euros). Among them, R&D expenditure was 600 billion yuan (about 21 million euros), an increase of 52% year-on-year, and R&D personnel accounted for XNUMX%.

The success of the Xiaomi Mi 14 series is not limited to the Chinese market. According to data from the JD.com platform, the Xiaomi 14 series surpassed the iPhone 15 Pro in first-day sales. The iPhone 15 Pro is the latest smartphone model launched by Apple, Xiaomi's main rival in the high-end smartphone sector.
