Xiaomi ranked fifth in the number of smartphones sold in Q1 2016

Recently, a new market research has been published that has taken into account the number of smartphones sold in the period ranging from Q4 2015 to Q1 2016. From the data we collected, we discovered some interesting peculiarities of the smartphone industry. First, although it is not really a novelty, Samsung has been ranked first with a worldwide market share of 23,80%. The second interesting thing is that Xiaomi, while having a limited operational area limited to Asia and some areas of America, he was able to move to fifth place, with rates very close to those of the manufacturers that preceded it immediately, namely Lenovo and Huawei, and sales of 14,8 million smartphones.

Q1 2016 smartphone market

About these three companies, for the first time, these three Chinese producers have been able to ship more smartphones than they were able to make Samsung and Apple put together. This is perhaps the most significant datum of all research, as it provides us with a projection on the change in progress in the smartphone economy.

Returning to talk about Xiaomi we note that, although compared to the same period last year, it dropped a position, the market share increased by 0,5%, a sign that growth is present and is constant. We close by informing you that the total number of smartphones sent to Q1 2016 was 292 million, down 18,6% from last quarter and 1,3% from the same quarter last year.
