Inflation, the crisis energy and the economic one is also felt on the giants of the retail trade and Amazon is no exception. As announced by the company itself in the last few hours, Amazon Prime subscriptions in Italy will increase in price starting from 15 September 2022. A rather important increase, as we will see, which is based on motivations concrete. Let's analyze everything in detail.
Amazon Prime raises prices of standard and student subscriptions in Italy. It goes from € 36 to € 49.90 per year. Here are the reasons
As of yesterday, Amazon is sending email communications to users informing of the impending price hike. Specifically, we are talking about the standard profile and Students, the main ones made available by the brand. From 15 September 2022, the price of the Prime Student subscription monthly will increase from € 1,99 to € 2,49 per month and the price of the Prime Student subscription annual will increase from € 18,00 to € 24,95 per year. The new rate will apply to renewals starting September 15, 2022 inclusive.

As for the standard profile instead, Amazon Prime will switch from € 3,99 to € 4,99 per month while from € 36 to € 49,90 per year. In fact, we remind you that there are two profiles: monthly subscription and annual subscription. In both cases, both standard and Student, the annual costs less in proportion, despite the increases.
This change is made on the basis of, and in accordance with, Clause 5 of the Amazon Prime Terms and Conditions. The reasons for this change relate to a general and substantial increase in overall costs due to inflation, which affects the specific costs of the Amazon Prime service in Italy and are based on external circumstances, beyond the control of the company.
It must be said, however, that Amazon Prime has not increased prices since 2018 and that it has since the same year increased the quality of services.
