As some of you may know, Aqara is one of the most active brands in the field of home automation products, specializing in particular in security and sensor systems. The product presented today is part of this category and arrives with the name of Aqara Lumi Human Sensor, while its price in China will be 299 yuan, about 38 euros at the exchange rate.
Aqara Lumi Human Sensor presented: High precision motion sensor with 6 years of autonomy
The Aqara Lumi Human Sensor is, as the name suggests, a motion sensor for people, but also pets. Unlike other products on the market, however, this is a high-precision sensor, which means that detection accuracy has been greatly improved and can even capture micro-movements of the palms. So we have an upgrade from the typical sensor that only detects movement, to a sensor that detects the physical presence of the person. Simply put, smart scenes that were previously made by multiple sensors can now be made by a single high-precision sensor.
Like many products of this kind, the Aqara Lumi Human Sensor must also be used in conjunction with a device with a Zigbee 3.0 gateway function. The sensor can then be positioned in any position thanks to the supplied accessories (ceiling included).
In addition, the high-precision motion sensor meets the IPX5 waterproof standard, so it can “survive” various splashes of water and can be installed in humid places such as bathrooms and toilets.
Another strong point of the Lumi Human Sensor is its autonomy. The sensor has in fact been designed to operate at extremely low energy consumption. In particular, with the 2 button batteries supplied you can reach a standby autonomy of about 6 years. Then, when the battery is close to depletion, we will receive a notification directly on the smartphone that will remind us to change it.
The long autonomy is also made possible thanks to the presence of three sensitivities: low, medium and high. The sensitivity will have to be adjusted according to the different application scenarios, for example by improving the detection sensitivity, false alarms will be effectively reduced.
Some examples of use:
- When you go to take a shower, the sensor will detect it and automatically turn on the lights and the exhaust fan. Even the slightest movements can also be detected such as washing your hair, with the light remaining on;
- When you leave and you are not at home, the gateway is in alarm mode, if it detects an intrusion it will immediately emit an alarm sound. At the same time, the connected camera will be activated, capture videos and send them to the mobile app;
Finally, like many other Aqara products, the Lumi Human Sensor supports Apple HomeKit in addition to the Xiaomi app.
