Official ASUS ROG Phone 8 series: Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip and AniMe Vision display on the back

ASUS has unveiled its new series of gaming smartphones ROG Phone 8 at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2024 in Las Vegas, the largest and most influential annual consumer electronics technology trade show in the world. The ROG Phone 8 series includes two models: the ROG Phone 8 and ROG Phone 8 Pro.

ASUS ROG Phone 8 Pro

The ROG Phone 8 is available in two colors: Phantom Black (obsidian black) and Rebel Gray (storm grey), with only one configuration of 16GB LPDDR5X and 256GB UFS4.0 memory. ROG Phone 8 Pro is only available in Phantom Black (obsidian black), with two memory configurations: 16GB LPDDR5X and 512GB UFS4.0 or 24GB LPDDR5X and 1TB UFS4.0. The main difference between the two models is in appearance: the ROG Phone 8 has a rear RGB lighting area that can display the ASUS “Republic of Gamers” logo with RGB lighting effects, while the ROG Phone 8 Pro has an AniMe Vision display made up of 341 LED beads which can customize animations or show functions such as weather, battery and others, which are completely hidden when turned off.

As for technical specifications, the ROG Phone 8 series adopts an angular frame design, which is 17% smaller, 15% thinner and 9% lighter than the ROG Phone 7. screen is a 6-inch Samsung E6,78 flexible AMOLED with resolution of 2400×1080, which supports a LTPO variable refresh rate from 1 to 120Hz, with a maximum of 165Hz, a DCI-P3 color gamut of 107,37%, sRGB of 145,65% and NTSC of 103,16%, protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 glass. processor is the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, Qualcomm's first 4nm chip, offering high performance and low power consumption. The memory is LPDDR5X type and the storage space is UFS4.0 type, which guarantee high data transfer speed. There battery is 5500mAh and supports 65W fast charging, which allows you to recharge your smartphone from 0 to 100% in about 40 minutes.

The rear camera consists of three sensors: a 50 megapixel IMX890 main sensor, with aperture f/1.9 e Gimbal 6 3.0-axis hybrid stabilization; a 13 megapixel ultra-wide-angle sensor, with f/2.2 aperture; it's a sensor telephoto lens from 32 megapixel, with 3x optical zoom, f/2.4 aperture and OIS optical stabilization. There front camera is 24 megapixels, with f/2.0 aperture. The smartphone also supports video recording in 8K at 30fps and 4K at 120fps.

The ROG Phone 8 series is designed to offer an optimal gaming experience, thanks also to some exclusive features, such as AirTrigger 6 ultrasonic trigger, which allow you to control the game with gestures and touches on the edge of the smartphone; The GameCool 6 cooling system, which keeps temperatures low even under stress; The Armory Crate software, which lets you customize game settings, performance, lighting, and more; and dedicated accessories, such as the ROG cooling clip AeroActive Cooler, ROG Tessen controller and the cover ROG Phone 8 DEVILCASE Guardian Standard (also in the version that supports the ROG AeroActive Cooler
