ASUS Zenfone 10: the strengths and weaknesses of the audio according to DxOMark
DxOMark submitted theASUS Zenfone 10 to a series of tests in both playback and recording, using several common scenarios and use cases. The result was a global score of 131, which places it in 50th place in the overall ranking and in 13th place in the premium device ranking.
In playback, the Zenfone 10 scored 128, thanks to a warm tonal balance with nice bass presence, excellent punch and good depth rendering. Furthermore, the device is equipped with two stereo speakers with Dirac HD Sound technology and Qualcomm WSA8835 intelligent amplifiers, which guarantee louder, deeper and less distorted sound. However, the device also showed some disadvantages, such as a severe lack of treble, which made the sound slightly muffled and dark, and inconsistent dynamics at the low end of the spectrum, which affected the clarity and contrast between sounds.
In recording, the ASUS Zenfone 10 achieved a score of 138, thanks to good tonal performance, i.e. the fidelity with which the device reproduces the color and character of the original sounds, and good dynamic performance, i.e. the ability to manage changes in intensity and amplitude of sounds. The device features two microphones with OZO Audio Noise Reduction Technology, which reduces unwanted noise, but still showed sensitivity to wind noise, especially with the selfie camera and voice memo app. Furthermore, the device showed compression when recording at high sound pressure levels, for example at concerts or sporting events, and slow volume adaptation.
