In May 2018, a brand already in severe crisis, Coolpad, did lawsuit against Xiaomi for patent infringement. Well, apparently the Chinese brand has just given up, releasing an official statement on Weibo (the Asian Twitter) in which it states its willingness to abandon the series of patent infringement lawsuits against Xiaomi.
Coolpad finally abandons the case against Xiaomi after more than two years
As previously mentioned, Coolpad had started a series of patent infringement lawsuits against Xiaomi way back in 2018. Coolpad's CEO even claimed that Xiaomi had infringed over 200 of its patents and actively tried to ban the brand from selling any device under scrutiny, as they would have infringed their patents. So the brand had brought Xiaomi to court in a legal action that ended only today.

We are deeply convinced that the country's development is still in a period of important strategic opportunities and that the national and international environment is undergoing profound and complex changes. Breaking tech bottlenecks and promoting better and faster development in the industry is top priority for brands like Coolpad and Xiaomi.

This means that Coolpad seems to want to put aside any hatred for the "national good". This in a period in which due to the Trump administration and the Covid pandemic, Chinese brands have seen a halt in growth. In particular, Huawei has undergone a downsizing on a global scale and according to various rumors it has even had to sell the Honor sub brand in order to stay afloat and minimize losses.
In any case, returning to Coolpad, as previously mentioned, the brand has been in severe crisis for several years and honestly it is already surprising that you still exist with competitors such as Redmi and Realme on the market.
