Assembly and Package Contents
The bike it arrived in a week from GearBerry's European warehouse, perfectly packaged with protective polystyrene and already fully assembled. Only small things remain to be assembled: the pedals, the front rack, the reflectors and the brackets for the passenger's feet. Therefore, no practice is needed and it is a great convenience for those who are not familiar with it.
As always, I advise you to check the tightness of all the screws because even if it is checked by the factory in China, during the journey with vibrations, it is not uncommon to find how many screws are loose.

Design
La Fafrees F20 Max It has a classic walking bike design made eye-catching by 20″ Fat tires. It is available in four colors (white, black, gray and red), but the "gunmetal" that I chose gives it a discreet elegance and is suitable for everyone. The saddle is adjustable from 86 to 102 cm, but the handlebars are also height adjustable, making it suitable and comfortable for people between 165 and 210 cm. Excellent welds and robustness in general which allow it to be tolerated loads up to 150kg
The driving setting allows you to keep your back straight, furthermore it stand over, or the lowest point of the bicycle from the ground, is only 44 cm. This allows you to get on the bike more easily even if you are not agile or not very young.
Le dimensions they are generous (171 x 60 x 120 cm) as is the weight of 31,5kg, justified by the large battery, nevertheless the bicycle is sufficiently agile but it is necessary to use electric assistance even on flat terrain. The F20 Max can be folded (also pedals and steering column) taking up approximately 99x55x76 cm and it is therefore possible to load it in the car or camper to enjoy it even on holiday.
Arrives free a very useful front luggage rack, specific for this model, very robust and measuring 23 x 29,5 cm. It's also there on the rear, integrated into the frame a second luggage rack converted into a passenger seat complete with footrests to rest your feet on. Considering that in Italy it is forbidden to carry a passenger on public roads (with rare exceptions), you can easily remove the cushion to use it as a luggage rack of approximately 15 x 37 cm.
Sul handlebars, which measures 62 cm, we find the 5 control buttons on the left. Two to vary the assistance mode, one to turn the bike on/off, one to turn on the lights (front LED headlight and rear position light), one to alternate the data shown on the display. By holding the – button pressed, the “push” mode is activated at 6 km/h
In the center we find the on-board computer with waterproof 4″ display which shows all the total and partial information on our journey. It uses very large numbers and is sufficiently visible even under sunlight.
La gear shift it is placed on the right and it is only one, as it is a 7-speed Shimano single-chainring, in the economic range. On this same side we also find the accelerator for the "electric only" mode which, however, is not permitted on public roads in Italy.
Performance and autonomy
La Fafrees F20 Max adopt one engine from 500W with a peak of 690W supported by a 1080Wh battery that reaches the remarkable thrust of 54Nm enough to climb slopes of up to 30% quite easily in assisted mode. Once unlocked, the bicycle reaches approximately i 45 km/h.
The initial inspiration surprised me, unexpected for this power, thanks to goodness of the battery and electronics in general. In essence, even on a slight slope, we will rarely be able to push on the pedals and on my usual one climb from 32° slope, defends well and doesn't force me to get off to push.
We have 3 levels available which correspond respectively to 50% 74% 92% of the power available. By configuring the on-board computer (you can find everything documented in the Italian manual) it is possible to choose and customize other configurations up to 9 levels of assistance.
The thrust is managed well and offers good progression after half a turn of pedaling. There is the "usual" delay when we stop pedaling or let go of the accelerator which prolongs the engine speed by a fraction of a second.
The stratospheric 22,5Ah Samsung battery it recharges in approximately 12 hours and guaranteesrecord autonomy up to 160 km in assisted mode and 120 in electric only. These are values, as always, a little optimistic and calculated in particularly favorable conditions but also considered my tests medium pushed is it is reasonable to expect a range of between 100/120 km in assisted mode. Comfort and safety
La Fafrees F20 Max is a bicycle clearly designed for the city but with equipment that does not exclude occasional off-roading thanks to the big tires which offer perfect grip even on dirt surfaces.
The advantage of having large tires is also appreciated when it comes to comfort because they are able to absorb the roughness of the ground. In addition, the fork is cushioned (not lockable, nor adjustable) with an excursion of 8 cm and the suspension saddle, offer pleasant excursions even on rough terrain.
Il braking system it is disc-type with single-piston mechanical calipers, both on the front and rear, which generate good braking, modulable but not very prompt. The 16 cm discs, as already verified on other similar models, are sufficient for 20" rims and despite the significant weight, it performed very well.
However, good braking also depends on the grip of the vehicle and therefore, even in these situations, FAT tires are very useful for guaranteeing reduced braking distances and maximum safety.
Speaking of security it is right to mention the the integrated LED light on the front, powerful and adjustable but also the big do red back which also works as STOP. There is no shortage of reflectors placed on the spokes of the wheels which increase visibility in low light conditions.
Fafrees F20 Max – Final opinions and price
The Fafrees F20 Max is a really interesting electric bike, suitable for all road surfaces but above all suitable for all ages thanks to the very low stand over. The great autonomy which actually exceeds 100km is certainly another feature for which you could choose this model.
The value for money is incredible and the only shortcomings I can point out are the brakes with hydraulic calipers which are an inexpensive but worthwhile upgrade and which could have been included without weighing too much on the cost.
The list price is not the most affordable, but using the discount code GBBIKE50 you can buy it on this GearBerry page for €1.247,91, including shipping from Europe therefore quickly and without customs costs. The price is partially justified by the large battery and the good technical equipment, but at this price I would have also liked to find hydraulic brakes.
