Google Camera becomes Pixel Camera
The Google Camera, known for its advanced photography and videography features, now adopts the name Pixel Camera on Play Store Italian. This change aims to highlight the exclusivity of the app for Pixel devices, a detail that has characterized the application in recent years.
The application description has also been updated along with its name. Previously, the emphasis was on capturing unmissable moments and on the quality of images and videos thanks to features such as Portrait, Night Sight and video stabilization modes. Now, the completely redesigned Pixel Camera promises to capture great photos and videos with new features such as Time Lapse e Cinematic Blur, as well as maintaining the pre-existing ones.
Google clarifies that the latest version of the Google Camera is compatible sOnly with Pixel devices running Android 14 and later versions. For Wear OS, Pixel Camera only works on Wear OS 3 (and later) devices connected to Pixel devices. Some features, however, may not be available on all devices.
The new identity of pixel Camera was presented by Google during the event Google I/O 2023, along with other innovations such as Pixel Call Assist, Pixel Speech (Recorder), and Pixel Safe (VPN, Car Crash Detection, etc.).
The GCam 9.1 version
Version 9.0 of the Pixel Camera has been released for the Pixel Fold, Tablet, and 7 Pro. While, the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro models are operating with version 9.1, which will receive a patch update very soon.
