After a myriad of leaks and previews, the new ones Google Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro have been officially presented; let's go and discover them together!
Official Google Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro: specifications, prices and availability
Let's start with the Pixel 8 which maintains the same design as its predecessors, but with slightly more rounded corners and overall smaller dimensions. On the back we find a bridge-shaped camera module with a pill-shaped cutout for the rear camera sensors. The smartphone was launched in colors Hazel, Rose and Obsidian.
As for specifications, the Pixel 8 comes with a OLED display from 6,17 inch with FHD+ resolution. It offers a 120 Hz refresh rate, 2.000 nits peak brightness, and HDR support.
From a photography point of view however, the Pixel 8 Google It is equipped with a dual rear camera that includes a 2 MP Samsung ISOCELL GN50 primary sensor paired with a 386MP IMX12 ultra wide angle camera which also offers macro focusing. There is also an updated ToF sensor. While in the part there is a 10,5 MP camera on the front positioned inside a hole at the top center. The device can record videos in up to 8K resolution and includes various features including HDR, Face Unblur, super resolution zoom, audio magic eraser and more.
Another strong point of the Pixel 8 is the Tensor G3 . chipset Google's proprietary based on 3nm architecture. There is also the Titan M2 security chip. The smartphone is equipped with 8 GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 256 GB of internal memory.
For battery and charging, the smartphone is powered by a battery 4485mAh with support for the 24W wired charging e 18W wireless. Software-wise, the Pixel 8 comes with Android 14 and the search giant promises 7 years of operating system updates and security patches.
Google Pixel 8 Pro
Turning to Google Pixel 8 Pro, the more premium model also sees the adoption of a more rounded design and abandons the sharp corners of last year's Pixel 7 family. It's basically a larger Pixel 8 with three cameras instead of two. The device will be available in Sky Blue, Porcelain and Obsidian Black color options.
In particular we find a 6,7 inch flat LTPO OLED display which offers a resolution of 3120×1440 pixels and a adaptive refresh rate from 1 to 120 Hz. It offers a maximum brightness of up to 2.400 nits and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection as well as being IP68 waterproof.
The cameras on board the Pixel 8 Pro see improvements with a 50MP main camera, a 48MP ultrawide lens with improved autofocus and a 48 MP telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom. For selfies there is an f10,5 MP camera on the front.
Under the "hood", the Pixel 8 Pro integrates the same Tensor G3 . chipset. The new 4nm processor is paired with 12 GB of RAM, Up to 1 TB of storage (in the US, 512 GB in the rest of the world).
The smartphone is powered by a capacious one battery 5050mAh and supports a 30W wired charging and 23W wireless charging.
The phone also offers all the latest connectivity options including WiFi 7, Bluetooth 5.3 and NFC. There is also a Integrated Titan M2 chip for security.
Prices and availability
Google Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro are available for pre-order from today on the Google Store and partner stores they will be available from October 12th.
For prices, the Pixel 8 starts at 799 euros (already on Amazon at this link), while the Pixel 8 Pro from 1.099 euros (already on Amazon at this link), with the original covers costing 39,99 euros.
