The foldable smartphone market is constantly growing and among the various models available, the Google Pixel Fold stands out, the first device of this type produced by the Mountain View giant. Camera performance testing site DxOMark recently published its review of the Pixel Fold, awarding it a overall score of 137, which places it at 28th place in the global ranking and 27th in that of Ultra Premium devices. This is the best result achieved by a foldable smartphone to date, surpassing the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3 5G (129).

The highlight of the Pixel Fold is its autofocus system, which ensures fast and accurate focusing in almost any light condition. The device features a 48MP main rear camera with f/1.7 aperture, a 10.8MP ultra-wide angle camera with f/2.2 aperture and a 10.8MP telephoto camera with f/3.05 aperture and 2x optical zoom. The front camera is 9.5MP with f/2.2 aperture.
Photos taken with the Pixel Fold have good exposure, good dynamic range, and neutral white balance both indoors and out. Contrast is well rendered in HDR scenes, such as backlit ones, and noise levels are low in bright light and indoors. The device also offers effective video stabilization, which reduces shaking and vibrations.

However, the Pixel Fold isn't without its flaws. Noise levels increase in low light, night shots and high contrast scenes, causing a loss of detail. Portrait mode also exhibits issues, such as a blur gradient poco nature and errors in depth estimation, which create artifacts around the subjects. Videos also suffer from exposure and white balance instability in all conditions, rendering the colors poco faithful.
In conclusion, the Google Pixel Fold is a foldable smartphone that offers good photographic performance, especially with regard to autofocus. However, it still has room for improvement to compete with the best devices in the Ultra Premium segment.
