Today Xiaomi officially announced the new thermos Mijia Vacuum Cup. The strength of this product is, besides the care and the general quality, the material of which it is composed. As the producer says, Mijia Vacuum Cup is made in 316L surgical steel. The term "Surgical Steel" means, in non-scientific terms, a type of iron-carbon alloy used for the creation of instruments mainly in the medical field. In the world of modern jewelry it is used for the creation of rings, pendants, necklaces, piercings and earrings. The most common type is precisely the 316L, where the "L" refers to the low carbon emissions, at most equal to 0,03%.
On an aesthetic level, Xiaomi Mijia Vacuum Cup has inherited the typical appearance of the Mijia line. It has a minimalist design, characterized by a white opaque body. As mentioned, it is made of 316L surgical stainless steel which, in addition to guaranteeing high standards in terms of purity, is able to guarantee 12 hours of thermal insulation. In addition to this, Mijia Vacuum Cup 316L stainless steel has superior performance in terms of resistance to corrosion, high temperatures and oxidation, as well as hardness and low porosity, which makes it very resistant to stains, since the substances deposited on the surface can be removed very easily. This quality is particularly important as dust, dirt and microbes cannot penetrate the surface of the metal, making it extremely hygienic and easy to sterilize. Finally, it is highly hypoallergenic, which means that people very rarely experience allergic reactions to this material.
So, as always, Xiaomi presents a product of high quality construction and raw materials, like thermos made by brands much more noble and historically present in the market.
The insulating capacity of Mijia Vacuum Cup is guaranteed by the adoption of a series of construction techniques, first of all a controlled electrolysis process called "mirror" as it ensures that the treated wall appears as smooth as the surface of a mirror. In this way, the space of thermal insulation between the inner lining and the external lining can be less than 1 mm, without the risk of possible contacts which, even if minimal, would render the usefulness of the vacuum air space in vain. The advantage is that of having the same performance as less precise products in the vacuum compartment, and therefore larger.
Zirconium vanadium is included in the vacuum insulation layer. As a consequence, the thermal insulation effect of this internal coating is particularly high, above all with a view to conserving heat.
Finally, optimized precision welding techniques and the insertion of further insulating layers contribute to giving the Xiaomi thermos excellent insulation, without weighing on the dimensions.
Xiaomi Mijia Vacuum Cup will be on sale starting tomorrow 12 December at a price for the Chinese market of about 99 yuan (12,7 € at current exchange rate).
