MIUI 8 for OnePlus 2 & 3: installation guide

The MIUI ROM offers one of the best customizations for the Android operating system while the OnePlus 2 and the OnePlus 3 are two excellent terminals with true top-of-the-range features. Well from today it is possible to try the MIUI interface also on these two devices with the particularity that the ROM is official and therefore will be able to benefit from the updates that will come. In the video below (in English but easy to understand) the installation method of the MIUI ROM for the OnePlus 2 and OnePlus 3 smartphone is shown. The download links for both ROMs are available below.

Performance and stability:

The running ROM is based on Android Marshmallows with the MIUI 8 customization in 8.6 version, which is pretty stable and performing. The author of the guide tested the ROM for a week and everything worked without any problems. The ROM is fluid and complete with all the features of MIUI 8 such as the Dual App, the Second Space, the Quick Ball, etc.
Stability is one of the strongest pieces of the ROM since no sudden restart or forced closure of the app became necessary during the test period. The RAM memory management is very good by always providing approximately 2,7 GB of free RAM at the first boot but after installing 10 / 20 applications, approximately 2 GB of free RAM is obtained, however, ensuring smooth homogeneity despite the number of background apps running in the background.

Battery performance:

Perhaps it is one of the main concerns of every user, including me, but you do not have to worry about how some of you know MIUI is famous for its optimization regarding it that always guarantees at least about 5 hours of screen lit up with gaming sessions , GPS navigation and music listening.
Charging times are more than acceptable as it will take around 1,5 / 2 hours to complete recharge the battery with status from 0 to 100%. Surely a plaudit is to be made to the ROM developer.

Features:

MIUI 8 is also famous for implementing some additional features that you will not find on any other Android interface.
Features such as the Second Space through which you can create two different users with separate data, or the Quick Ball for better control of your device, application block, screenshots by gesture (swipe of 3 fingers from top to bottom bass), a dedicated security application, and the list does not end there. But surely if you are here it's because you know the MIUI and want to know how to install it on your OnePlus device.

Camera:

Camera application is also one of the best on Android devices. However, the main features of OnePlus systems such as the auto focus system or the ability to adjust the settings manually are not lost.
Unfortunately, however, some features have not been implemented. For example, you can only rotate videos with resolution up to 1080p, slow motion is not supported, and real-time filters are missing. But despite all the photos enjoy an impressive yield.

It should be noted, however, that the fingerprint reader seems to work much better than the original ROM as it is more accurate and faster in unlocking.

Bugs:

No bug was found in the test period which is really amazing. It should rather be noted that some features typical of MIUI 8 are missing such as one-hand mode, music equalizer option, etc. But I think you do not have to worry about it as it was previously an official build and surely these problems will be corrected very soon. SIM functionality and network reception, as well as call quality, were excellent.

Final Verdict:

If you can live with these missing features then I have to recommend this rom because it offers a lot of features, good sound quality, a better camera app, excellent battery performance and fingerprint sensor that works much better than Oxygen OS.

Installation:

The prerequisites are:

  1. Bootloader unlocked and TWRP recovery installed.
  2. Battery with at least 60% charge.
  • Start the device in TWRP recovery. From the device off, just hold down the power button + volume down for a few seconds until the OnePlus logo appears.
  • After starting in TWRP recovery the first thing we recommend is to backup your current ROM so that you can restore everything in case of an error. At this point make a Wipe to clean the system partition.
  • Go back and click Install by choosing the zip file containing the MIUI ROM and then swipe to boot the ROM flash.
  • Once the ROM is installed, restart the device. The first start will take about 10 minutes so do not worry.

That's normal .. The more there is, the more operating systems use it. Even my mi5 pro often takes up 3gb out of 4.
