At the beginning of this year, Xiaomi gave life to a new brand under which to group all its devices belonging to the Mi ecosystem with the express purpose of denying the false rumor that Chinese products are of poor quality. The name of this brand is MiJia which, translated literally, means Xiaomi Smart Home and to date already consists of many smart and excellent quality products, such as the QiCycle bike and the blood pressure meter. Today a new device becomes part of this large family of smart gadgets and, more specifically, it is a cutting-edge robot vacuum cleaner, the We Robot Vacuum.
Let's start examining it starting from its main feature, namely the motor, which is from Nidec and is able to deliver a pressure of 1800 Pa without producing noise. In the lower part, however, we find the main brush which is able to modify its distance from the ground to increase the suction action and also adapt to uneven soils. In addition, it has another small side rotating brush that has the purpose of bringing the dirt in front of the vacuum cleaner, since the body of the device will always remain one centimeter from the wall itself. The latter, moreover, is able to vary its speed based on the amount of dirt present with a variation ranging from 130 rotations per second (standard) up to 330 rotations per second.
Inside we find a 5200 mAh battery that provides an average autonomy of more than 2,5 hours. Moving on to the brain that moves everything, we find four different CPUs, three of which are dedicated to mapping and positioning in real time the device and all its sensors. The sensors are the feature that make this device smart, as it has 12 sensors, each of which performs a specific task. Among these, one stands out that was made by Xiaomi itself called LDS (Laser Distance Sensor) which is able to scan the surrounding environment at 360 ° with a frequency of 1800 times per second (similar to that used in self-driving cars ). Furthermore, the Mi Robot Vacuum integrates within it a particular algorithm called SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping) capable of mapping / tracing the path to follow with the best degree of cleaning.
Finally, like all the other devices belonging to the MiJia brand, the latter can also be connected to a smartphone via the Mi Home app with which you can monitor its values, view its position and the route traveled in real time, view the estimated time to complete completion of the path / cleaning, select between three different cleaning modes (Quiet, Standard and Active) and schedule the cleaning. Furthermore, when a low level of residual charge is detected, the Mi Robot Vacuum automatically returns to its charging dock and as soon as the battery charge is completed, it returns to cleaning from the position in which it stopped.
Finally, Xiaomi reiterates that all products belonging to the MiJia family are made only using quality components from the best brands in the world which justifies the price at which it is proposed, that is 1699 Yuan which corresponds to the exchange rate. poco more than 228 €.
