POCO UI will be the new Android skin: goodbye MIUI? Let's be clear

POCO Will UI replace MIUI? But certainly not, or perhaps in a certain sense yes. Before talking about it, however, it is right to acknowledge some merit to the company based in India. POCOPHONE it has been very strong for two years now and has achieved success thanks to incredibly good devices at (it must be said) bargain prices. From the original F1 flagship killer up to next POCO M3 Pro, the company has built a well-defined image in poco time. A bit like realme. But autonomy is around the corner and we have already talked about it. In all this the new smartphone skin what does it have to do with the brand?

We start talking about POCO UI, the Android skin of POCOPHONE that could replace MIUI. But will it really be like this? Clearly not

In an interview done by Android Central to Kevin Xiaobo Qiu (in charge of POCO Global) and Angus Ng (Director of Product Marketing), plans have emerged for the future of POCO for the next few years. Qiu commented that the company can share its R&D, after-sales service, manufacturing and even infrastructure resources with Xiaomi, but what it doesn't mean they have the same goals. In fact, it is enough to see the smartphones they propose to understand the arrival points.

POCO, the current goals are three: bringing 5G connectivity to the masses in a cost-effective way, continuing to offer high-performance devices at a good price, and create your own identity. We are interested in this last point. Many may think that this has already happened, but it is not. The last step is to take create the POCO UI, or the Android custom skin, a perfect outfit in essence.

Until now, the level of personalization of smartphones POCO is a variant of MIUI called MIUI for POCO. This includes an app drawer, custom icons, and other settings that other Xiaomi's don't have (at least up to MIUI 12). But the company wants more and towards the end of 2021 will present POCO UI, its own level of personalization redesigned from scratch to give more exclusivity to its customers. But it will be different from MIUI? As we said, no. Angus confirms that yes will continue to use the MIUI code even if the distinctive elements will be different from the current ones.

POCO with Android One? Never!

Android Central also asked if the hypothesis to bring was plausible Android One on your devices. His answer was more than clear: "It is not a direction that we are considering at the moment". It is in fact no secret that the Android One project has been bankruptcy. Just think of the Mi A series devices.
