Redmi K30 Pro will have a ToF sensor for ultra accurate automatic brightness

The Redmi K30 Pro is fast becoming one of the most talked about smartphones of the Xiaomi sub-brand. In fact, we are talking about the next flagship killer since December 2019, or from poco after the presentation of the basic version.

Well, today's rumor concerns a feature that probably may seem secondary to most users, but which in reality could prove to be fundamental. What is it about? Quite simply a ToF sensor. This was anticipated by the vice president of Xiaomi Group and general manager of Redmi, Lu Weibing, on the social Weibo (the Chinese Twitter). Weibing said that "For some time, nobody has discussed the additional features brought by a ToF sensor."

As some of you may know, ToF means Time of Flight, and the sensor has a fairly simple operating principle. We have an emitter, usually an IR LED or a laser, which projects modulated light, then a specially made CMOS sensor receives the light signal, converting it into an electrical signal. Thanks to this technology it is possible to create a 3D mapping of the surrounding world.

But the ToF sensor is not only used to "play" with Augmented Reality (or augmented reality) in a 3D world. As we learned at the presentation of the Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro in fact, the ToF sensor is mainly used to improve the detection of ambient light. This means that the smartphone will be much more intelligent and precise in adjusting the brightness of the screen in different light conditions.

In this regard, the product director of Redmi, Wang Teng, has also suggested that this technology helps especially in extreme cases such as at night. The typical sensor in fact increases the brightness disproportionately as it sees the light reflected by the face as a light source. With the ToF sensor instead, the smartphone should be able to detect the real brightness of the environment and therefore avoid the beacon effect in the eyes when we are in the dark.

As for the other specifications, many of them will be similar to that of the Xiaomi Mi 10 series. In fact, we will find the performance Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 as a processor, coupled with at least 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 128GB of UFS 3.0 internal memory.

Several rumors also suggest that the Redmi K30 Pro can adopt a 64MP main camera, we are talking about the excellent Sony IMX686 sensor, which would then be accompanied by an ultra wide angle camera, a telephoto and a macro (alternatively a depth of field sensor ).

Finally, the device cannot fail to equip a battery with a capacity of at least 4500mAh and a quick charge of at least 33W.
