A few weeks ago the general manager of Redmi and vice president of Xiaomi, Lu Weibing, hinted that the next Redmi K40 series will be released by February. Since then we have been reading about new rumors almost daily and today is no exception.
Redmi K40 will be available in three variants, all with Snapdragon 8 series chips
The famous Chinese blogger Digital Chat Station has just revealed some new details about the upcoming flagship killers. In particular, he allegedly claimed that the Redmi K40 series will consist of a total of three models, including the high-end version (called “Super Cup” in China) which will be equipped with a 108 megapixel main camera sensor. This would be the first time that the Redmi brand has adopted a camera with such a high resolution.
Furthermore, the leakster seems to have denied the previous news that the cheapest device of the series (the Redmi K40) would be equipped with the latest chip from Mediatek, the Dimensity 1200. But, according to him, the Redmi K40 will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 series processor. So all models of the series will be equipped with high-performance Qualcomm chip.
In any case, the three models should be called Redmi K40, Redmi K40S and Redmi K40 Pro. The Redmi K40 and Redmi K40S should adopt Qualcomm's new Snapdragon 870 processor, a chip based on the Snapdragon 865 with some improvements. While the Redmi K40 will equip the most performing mobile chip on the market, the Snapdragon 888, and rumor has it that its price is around 2999 yuan, which is equivalent to about 380 euros at the current exchange rate. Clearly the younger brothers will cost less, it is thought around 2000 yuan, about 250 euros.
