The official profile of Redmi has already announced that it will release the new Redmi K40 series next month, lowering the prices of flagships with Snapdragon 888 to only 3000 yuan, on 380 euros at the exchange rate.
Redmi K40: there will be a version with Snapdragon 870 and ultra compact front camera
However, according to the well-known Chinese leakster Digital Chat Station, there is also a special version of the Redmi K40 series that will be equipped with Qualcomm's new flagship Snapdragon 870 processor. While from the design point of view we will see a screen with a small hole in the center for the front camera.
Well, this morning, Digital Chat Station again revealed some more info on the device. In particular, he stated that the smartphone will be equipped with a screen with an ultra small hole of only 2,8 mm; it could therefore become the most compact front camera on the market.
Furthermore, the Redmi K40 screen is expected to use Samsung's E4 luminous material, i.e. an OLED-type display, the same technology used aboard the Xiaomi Mi 11 flagship. Clearly this brings an increase in visual quality and will also support a high 120Hz refresh rate. According to Chinese sources, it could be the most expensive display ever used on a device in this category.
It is also worth mentioning that thanks to the use of the Snapdragon 870 processor, the price of this Redmi K40 will be lower than the previously announced 2999 yuan (380 €). But that doesn't mean users have to worry about a lack of performance with this chip.
According to the official introduction of Qualcomm in fact, although the Snapdragon 870 uses the same process and architecture as the Snapdragon 865, the new chip adopts an improved version of the Kryo 585 core. The main frequency of the large core is up to 3,2, 100 GHz, which is XNUMX MHz higher than the previous generation. So the performance will be even better.
We also have the Geekbench execution score of the Snapdragon 870 in which it scores 1034 points in single core and 3513 in multi-core, much higher than that of the Snapdragon 865 and close to the contemporary flagship, the Snapdragon 888. Furthermore, the Redmi K40 will be equipped with LPDDR5 memory and UFS 3.1 flash memory, the best of the best.
