Redmi Note 8 (not Pro) comes out: here are the features

You thought Redmi was resting on Sunday, eh? But no! Indeed, it is on this Sunday less hot than the usual sub brand of Xiaomi, intended to make smartphone of medium-high band (but also high, considering its outgoing flagship) at indecently low prices, it reveals the second smartphone from the Note series that is about to come out. Exactly, the Redmi Note 8 comes out in the open in post Weibo official, issued by the official account of Redmi. And if you were expecting a smartphone with excessively high performance, well ... it's not really like that. But then what to expect from a device that is not Pro? In the end it had to be like this, let's mediate in detail what we will have on board.

Redmi Note 8 (not Pro) comes out: here are the features

Obviously i comparisons with the Pro version are not to be done even from far away, because the processor is completely different (on one side a MediaTek for gaming and on the other a Snapdragon). And with regards to the processor that will move everything, the device in question will have one under its shell Snapdragon 665: making a small, but not so much, step forward compared to the predecessor Note 7, this Qualcomm chipset brings some news not bad. To start the production process is at 11nm unlike the previous 14, and this means in terms of performance speed and stability; in addition we have in the graphic part, support for Vulkan 1.1 API, which translated means a lower 20 energy consumption than Open GL ES. Infine, la AI technology is now very mature in the photographic department and the excellent performance of the AI can decisively improve the user experience in filming and photography, such as scene recognition and the beloved bokeh effect. The  Snapdragon 665 has an AIE engine (Artificial Intelligence Engine) of third generation with Hexagon 686 DSP and Hexagon Vector Extension (HVX), which offers advanced imaging and processing capabilities. Let's not forget a support to the 610 Adreno GPU. Compared to the configuration of the cores in the chip, we have a octa-core formed by 8 x Kryo 260.

As for the side that is strictly inherent to the processor and its specifications, we have finished. Let's move on to the camera side: as we already had mentioned above in the description of the older brother equipped with MediaTek Helio G90T, unlike the latter the device does not support the 64 megapixel camera. We will therefore find on board a photographic section that is always worthy of note, but that stops at "only" 48 megapixels. The news lies in the increase in lenses, which are now 4 and no longer 3 as in the notes of the previous generation: in particular we find the camera main + a super wide-angle lens + one dedicated to depth of field + the last formed by four super macro lenses. The amount of pixels dedicated to each part, excluding the main one, is unknown for now.

Well, for today the presentation of the main features of the device in exit the 29 August they ended. From such a device we did not really expect who knows what: first steps forward in the photographic field, very few have been made, indeed only one or the sensor output Samsung GW1 which, however, is mounted on the Pro series and therefore it would have been counterproductive to put even on this device; thethe only really important change is the processor that, if we don't stop at the number difference with the previous one, it would offer much better performances. It is not a smartphone devoted to gaming but the Snapdragon 665 as stated by Qualcomm itself, marks a small upgrade in these terms.

If you hadn't noticed, the fingerprint reader was not shown in the last image as it was previously. This means that this device will have a integrated reader on the screen, most likely of 7 ° generation. Not bad, eh?

The 665 as both CPU and GPU power is significantly lower than the 660.
You can define it a step ahead of the 636, yes.

But not even for a dream… the Adreno 610 is significantly inferior to the Adreno 612 adopted by the Snapdragon 675, and consider that the same Adreno 612 has already turned out to be equal or inferior to the Adreno 512 of the old 660. Comparative tests can be found everywhere. Ditto for the CPU, where the A73 cores (the high-power ones) are at 2.2 Ghz in the 660 and at 2 Ghz in the 665, while the high-efficiency ones are at 1.8Ghz in both cases. There are undoubtedly improvements in the production process, which together with the lower frequencies should guarantee lower consumption. In each... Read the rest »

If we talk about the optical sensor under the display, does it mean that the latter will be an oled?

Do you know anything about the fingerprint sensor instead? Will it be placed behind or below the display? Thank you

We have to see if the screen will be OLED, only then can there be the footprint under the screen if I'm not mistaken

Hi Gianluca,
do you know anything regarding NFC? Are there confirmations / denials of its presence on both the Note 8 Pro and the “smooth” Note 8? If they implemented NFC it would be the first time on the Note series, and it would be a very welcome addition.
Thank you.

I would say the Pro is much better.
I had two experiences with MTK and say that they were not the best

Hello,
let's say that the good that I will replace my old redmi note 4x mido 4/64 that although it is already a bit old for me is still good I will remain with Qualcomm, also because modding does not seem to me I do not know can still do with MTK, and when I will no longer be able to update the MIUI I will always be able to count on alternative roms.
By the way, surely you will know more than me, will the MIUI 11 arrive for the redmi note 4x mido?
thank you
