I tried the new version of the Tronsmart Bang, party speakers or boomboxes of the Chinese house that has been producing products for years and has now reached a high level of quality and experience. The Bang is an excellent alternative to the more expensive JBLs and offers excellent features at an attractive price.

Design and features
The Tronsmart Bang has a cylindrical design covered with a fabric in which a large e stands out sturdy handle plastic that covers its entire length. It measures 361 x 183 x 150 which, combined with a weight of 3kg makes it portable but not as comfortable as the Tronsmart Bang SE.
It is only available in black colour on which the led lights, a front that follows the entire length and two others to frame the 2 subwoofers. There are two modes: breathing, in which the colors alternate slowly; beats, where instead the colors alternate and flash (fairly) in time with the music.
I control buttons there are 7, all rubberised, they are placed frontally on the right:
- TuneConn activation with status led
- Input mode change
- Volume – / Previous track if long pressed
- Play / Pause / Answer or reject phone call
- Volume + / Next song if long pressed
- SoundPulse equalization activation and status led
- LED On/Off/Mode Switch
There are also other functions and pressure combinations that required two pages of the manual. Perhaps the buttons could have been more or arranged differently.
To the left of the push-button panel, in addition to the 4 LEDs that indicate the battery status, there is a NFC receiver for quick bluetooth pairing. A convenient feature that is hard to find on these products.
At the back we find the connection ports sheltered by a rubber flap:
- Reset button
- USB-A output to use it as a PowerBank
- USB Type-C charging port
- 3,5mm aux input
- MicroSD card slot
Finally, the speaker has a certificazione IPX6, which means it's resistant to splashes of water, even from the sea.
there two ways to pair Tronsmart Bang. The first is via Bluetooth where you simply hold down the power button for about three seconds to put it into pairing mode. I've paired the speaker with a Mac, a Windows PC, an iPhone, and an iPad with no issues. The most immediate solution is to pair it via NFC in which it will be enough for us to bring a device that supports it (iPhones are not, for example), to complete the procedure in a few seconds.
The speaker supports the Bluetooth 5.0 therefore the data flow is constant, the range of use up to 18 meters and consumption optimized.
The most interesting feature of this speaker is that it can be paired with up to 100 other Tronsmart Bang speakers. The "single" user won't take much advantage of this function but imagine having a club, even outdoors, and being able to synchronize multiple Bangs placed in every corner as necessary, controlling a single audio source, all wirelessly.
As an alternative to the bluetooth connection we have a slot that Read memory cards but also a 3,5mm aux port.
We conclude the roundup of features by quoting the integrated microphone which allows us to answer phone calls and interact with voice assistants.
Sound quality and performance
Tronsmart Bang is a speaker designed mainly for outdoor use and for parties, therefore I expected it to have a good sound output at medium-high volumes, and all in all I can confirm that it is. Bass reproduction is solid, midrange frequencies are clear, and treble is crisp, without any distortion or sudden cuts.
In general I can not define the sound quality excellent, but it is certainly more than enough. Actually, considering its price, I can say that it is slightly above average.
I noticed instead that at very low volumes the sound is a bit muffled and I don't recommend it for contexts other than a party, for example connected to the PC to listen to the radio in the background.
But it has the great advantage of adedicated application which allows for a good EQ range with some interesting presets.
Battery life
The autonomy of the Tronsmart Bang, as in all portable speakers, is strongly influenced by the volume level we use but also by the use of integrated LED lights.
I managed to listen over 12 hours of playback with the volume at one third of the power and the LEDs on. So more or less in line with Tronsmart's forecasts which promises up to 15 hours, with the LED off and with the volume at 50%.
The speaker can still be used while charging it via the USB-C socket on the back. recharging takes about 4 hours.
Price and final opinions of the Tronsmart Bang
The Tronsmart Bang is a good wireless speaker with good sound quality, a nice design and some interesting features.
Some things, like the button layout, could be improved but overall it's a good personal solution and even better when used in Party Mode.
The value for money is really interesting because its List price on Amazon is €119,99 but it is often on offer for less. It is also available too on the official website.
