As we saw a few minutes ago, at the press conference just held by Vivo, the Chinese smartphone maker launched the Live X Flip, but this isn't the only foldable to see the light of day today. In fact, the brand also presented the new one Vivo X Fold 2; let's go see it together.
Vivo X Fold 2 official: lighter and with a top-of-the-class photographic sector
The Vivo X Fold 2 maintains the same foldable design as the previous two generations. The internal screen is made of Samsung E6 luminescent material with a resolution of 2160×1916 and once opened, measures 8,03 inches, with a ratio of 4:3,55. The panel supports a 120 Hz refresh rate, a peak brightness of 1800 and a PWM dimming at 960Hz.
The size of the external screen is 6,53 inches and is also made of Samsung E6 luminescent material. Support one 120 Hz refresh rate, a resolution of 2520×1080, and a peak brightness of 1600 nits. Both the inner and outer screens support 3D ultrasonic fingerprint sensor unlocking.
The Vivo X Fold 2 also uses a brand new ultra-strong and lightweight hinge, using a Vivo-developed FS54 aircraft-grade material, which has higher strength and lighter weight. The device passed the 400-fold test of Rheinland hassle-free, so a great using experience is guaranteed. We also find that the diameter of the water droplets is upgraded from 4,6mm to 5,0mm, the bending diameter increases, and the flatness of the screen is at the forefront of the industry.
For photos, we find a combination of three rear lenses, including one main camera with 866 megapixel Sony IMX50 sensor and a focal aperture of f/1,75, which supports OIS optical image stabilization and offers a professional photographic experience with the cinematic video mode from ZEISS; then there is a ultra wide angle lens with 663 megapixel Sony IMX12 sensor and focal aperture f/2.0; a professional telephoto lens with Sony IMX663 sensor from 12 megapixel, 2X optical zoom and focal aperture of f/1,98.
The front lens has a resolution of 16 megapixels and focal aperture of f/2,45 inches. Still for photos, the smartphone is also equipped with the V2 imaging chip developed by Vivo.
In terms of performance, the Vivo X Fold 2 comes with the new and powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen2 processor, the capacity of the battery is 4800mAh and supports the 120W dual-core flash charging and 50W wireless flash charging.
Other specifications on board the smartphone include an intelligent cooling system, NFC, Wi-Fi 7 and 5G, 5G dual-card dual-pass, wireless lossless Hi-Fi, quality stereo recording, large sound cavity with dual symmetrical speakers, button independent mute, X-axis linear motor and a 2558mm2VC liquid and nano gel thermal cooling system.
As for the design, the new Vivo X Fold 2 aims to bring a lightweight design with weight reduction and thinning of 30 dimensions. In fact, compared to the previous generation, the thickness and weight of the body are greatly optimized. Weight is reduced by about 33g, thickness is reduced by 2mm. Among them, the number of parts of the zipper has been reduced by 83 compared to the previous generation, and the weight of the zipper is reduced by 30%. The weight is reduced but the quality is not reduced, and the bending life is increased by 33% compared to the previous generation, reaching a bending life of 400 thousand times.
The smartphone will be available in three color options: Huaxia Red, Azure Blue and Shadow Black. While the dimensions are 161,29mm x 143,43mm x 6,06~6,4mm when open and 161,29mm x 73,42mm x 12,9mm when closed.
On the software side, the operating system is Origin OS 3 and a number of exclusive functions have been customized for the Vivo X Fold 2 such as Fusion 3.0 memory which can integrate more application data to achieve the maximum effect of +8G memory. For devices with 12G memory, the number of background applications can be kept running up to 34.
Finally, as regards prices, the Vivo X Fold 2 has a starting price of 8999 yuan (1193 euros) for the version with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal memory.
